Rudd has ordered the 6 state premiers to block any Howard initiatives running into the election. Hardly surprising.

ALP policy is that if they were to win office and subsequently win a second term, they would increase GST to 12.5%.

The sudden backflip by Rann over School Workcover levys and Paramedic wages was ordered, quite agressively, by Rudd.

Nobody in their right mind would think that this was even remotely on the drawing board. It would be a suicide note for their electoral chances, and it isn't necessary. The Government is already rolling in money.

I stand by what I said. In my opinion, it's total nonsense. If there was anything in it, it would be all over the media.

I find it impossible to believe that of all the people in Australia, you are one of the few who has been told this.

If this is true, and I have no reason to doubt that it isn't, as Keating won an election on a no GST platform, then promptly raised taxes within months of his re-election, there was no mention of raising other taxes during the election campaign by Keating, but no doubt this move was planned long before. State premiers including Mediocre Mike are always pleading poverty, they wouldn't say no to an extra 2.5%. If federal Labor is elected and all States and territories with Labor governments what is there to stop it? Do you really trust Rudd, Gillard, Garrett, Mediocre Mike, Bracks, Iemma etc. that much? one thing that can be guarranteed ABSOLUTELY the GST will stay at 10% if Howard is re-elected, not because he is any more honest than the others, it just can't be done. Sounds like a good line for an election scare campign
