North Jumper

Postby SDK » Sun Jul 08, 2007 4:24 pm

Whats with the North jumper yesterday it was horrible !!!!!
I always thought North had the second best jumper in the comp but that rag yesterday was filth !
Why do North need to use a second strip against Norwood....hardly a clash of colours !!

Absolutely spot on SDK on all points.
The guernsey was crap and there is NO need for North to wear any other strip because it doesnt clash with any other club.
Another strip for Heritage reasons is understandable but not that ordinary jumper from yesterday and I dont want to hear they sell the guernsey to help the clubs finances - not relevant in NORTHs case.

I don't mind it and have got used to it but I agree that we don't need an alternative strip but if we have to have one then why not a white jumper with a big red V (similar to Sth Fremantle - I like their jumper) instead of the thin v on our current alternative strip.

Now you could apply that to describing Nwds normal strip which is one of the dullest dark blobs ever worn. Even your alternative jumpers is better than your normal one.

If we are going to have an alternate guernsey what Sydney wore today would be ideal. In fact reverse the colours on what Sydney wore today and that's better than our regular V guernsey as well.

Ugly and pointless.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Agree with most, ugly and not needed.
They actually do look better close up (I have one from last year) but a pointless exercise.
If they were going to go for an alternate jumper for marketing purposes (I cant see any other purpose) then the 1930s guernsey that is basically a reversal of their normal jumper is (ie white with red vee) would be the way to go as that's a great looking guernsey.
Having said that we have worn the alternate strip 3 times and won 3 times in it! :D

The only positive is the name on the back, all year Ive got Gallman and Grose mixed up and had to refer to my budget every week, for the first time this year I didn't need to! :D
Mind you, Ian still had to point it out to me before I noticed it. :?

I thought it must have been a heritage guernsey. According to 5RPH it had "Clipsal" across the front

Hondo 71, Maybe White with a Red Vee might not be have been such a good choice with yesterdays weather. :)

from wedgies pics, i thought it was ugly. I like dr ebins idea of having the south freo jumper, basically a reverse of their current one.

red V and white background.

Not even close to the ugliest guernsey going around, but not needed, the only side we could now possibly clash with would be West wearing their alternate strip, and I'm sure West would never wear that when playing North, so not even an issue.

i think clubs that dont normally clash, like north and sturt, can use an alternative strip for certain games, heritage or back to the 70's or watever and also use it as a marketing/merchandising ploy ala soccer clubs.

i was against this idea but after seeing sturts one v port, it looked great and would love to see it worn more often and buy one :)
