At least he told the club about Sturt's offer and gave them an opportunity to have the last bid or match the deal which is fair enough isn't it? The 'over a barrell' and 'caved in' comments are just speculation it may not have been as severe as that. Most times people just take the better offer and run.
Someone I know at my work went back to their current boss and told him about a better offer he had elsewhere .... my respect for that particular guy went up because of it, at least he was honest.
I think it's harsh to go anti-Pyman just because of something you were told - especially when it sounds like your sole reason for wanting him gone. The story might be right, but what if it's either wrong or been beat up a bit by someone with an axe to grind?
Don't take offence at the selective quoting - just trying to keep the post length down.
