Why is it when I pay $5.40 for my tall mocha I have to put my own lid on?

Apparently the new Rihanna video clip - the one where she kidnaps some dudes wife and tortures her whilst holding her for ransom, and then goes and kills the other dude, whilst singing Bitch Better Have My Money... is Mysoginist. I couldnt even bring myself to read the article.

Each time I put my bills into the Escosa spreadsheet, AGL comes out on top.

Depends on usage, but if you are a heavier user then Power Direct comes out on top. No discounts for paying on time, just cheaper rates, actually the rate gets slightly cheaper the more you use as opposed to going up on each band with all other providers.

I have been with power direct for 12-18 months and certainly wouldn't be changing.

When was the last time you rang them? I seem to get good help most times I've called.

This morning I got two gas bills for the same period. Called up, and was sorted within 10 minutes. No holding, sent from enquiries to billing resolutions instantly. Aussie chicks (wo)maning the phones.

right, rant on ...

Dealt with AGL extensively 3-4 months ago due to moving house, getting gas & lecky installed at the new place, and getting both abolished at the old place.

Never had an Australian accent on the phone. All accents have been hispanic with no exception. Surprised that your experience is otherwise.

AGL managed to **** up the gas connection at the new place. Was supposed to be installed and connected the day we moved in. The day before we got a call saying that the job could not be done with no explanation. Calling AGL was fruitless; the call centre staff directed us to go to the new house and look in the meter box - they themselves could not tell us why the job had not been done. The day we moved in I spent 45 minutes on the phone to AGL, got transferred no less than 5 separate times, until eventually we got told to call Envestra. Did this and in 2 minutes we got told what the problem was, and to call back AGL and quote a number to them. AGL had advised me what buttons to press to get straight through when I called back - surprise surprise this advice turned out to be pure fiction, and I had to run the gamut of the automatic options plus get transferred again before I got through to the right department. On quoting the number to them they then asked for my missus to get on the phone to authorise the work, since she was the prime contact on the account. Would have been nice if they'd mentioned this to me before since the missus was elsewhere, and the AGL phone droid resolutely refused to call her. So I called her, asked her to ring AGL, and then she had to endure 30 minutes of hold music and transfers until she got put through to someone who could authorise the job. We spent the first week in the new place suffering cold showers until finally the gas got put on - no thanks to the arseholes at AGL.

And that's just the new place. Trying to get the gas abolished at the old place was a joke; first AGL claimed that the paperwork had not been sent in, despite us doing it at least 3 weeks previously. Then they told us that the job would take up to 2 weeks and they'd advise when they knew exactly when. Well and good, but we had a demolition company waiting to roll bulldozers over the place. Calling AGL daily was fruitless - eventually we called Envestra, who said they would send someone over to remove the meter so that at least the appliances could be removed (and they did this the same day!), and they'd disconnect the mains ASAP. A couple of days later there were signs of digging on the nature strip out front; called AGL to see if the gas was disconnected and got the same spiel. Called Envestra after a couple more days and found out that yes, the gas had been disconnected at the mains. As of this moment we still have not heard back from AGL.

At present, while we rent, we are customers of AGL for both lecky and gas. Don't see any point in rocking the boat right now given that we'll be here for less than a year. When our new place is built and we move into it we shall quietly close our accounts with AGL and from that point we will have no further dealings with that company which is, in our experience, completely and thoroughly ineffectual. AGL is the corporate equivalent of a pimp: it takes the money but provides no service. Never, never again.

rant off.
