Good day at Unley today, Sturtpeter got me cheap(er) beers (ie Prospect price as opposed to Unley price), also caught up with Barto and lesthmechanic, it was a really good atmosphere in the outer today, even the Sturt fans thought the Grog sqaud were funny with their quips.
Prior to the game I had the pleasure of catching up with a media flock in Phil Herden, Chris Kendall, Robbie Douglas and Daniel Schell who was making special comments today for LifeFM.
What a delightful lad Daniel Schell is, its the first time Ive had the pleasure of chatting to him and he's a class act, to tell the truth having already met Chris Gowans and a couple of other Central players I must admit I can only but admire how classy they all and are fantastic blokes who just love talking footy.
Central have something really really special out there.
PS Back in 60 mins, gonna watch TNA with the son now. I hope no Port supporters will whinge this week about the time it took for me to get the photos up after a loss. :?

Moving tomorrow's game to the Adelaide Oval and really building it up, could have got 6-7k at Adelaide Oval tomorrow.

I am sure north would have looked at moving the prospect game earlier in the season to ao if it was available for the same reason.

Youve answered your own question, nothing to look at then as Adelaide Oval was unavailalbe.
Plus Prospect can easily handle 6-7 k were Unley is extremely uncomfortable with anything close to 4k.
Facilities and comfort of the crowd would have been much better at Adelaide today and also given Sturt another games experience there where most of the finals are played.
North and Sturt have both moved their home games to Adelaide Oval in the last 2 years to get maximum crowds and $$$. My point is they would have actually gained most out of it today with the last 2 years games being fairly unappatising and with today's game having a good build up with 2nd v 3rd. Neither side will drop out of the 3, and neither side will get top spot so it would have been good to use the opportunity to promote the SANFL.

Anyway, its all hypothetical now, perhaps something someone in charge should look at next time an opportunity like this occurs. It could have had a similar result as the Fathers Day match that got moved in 1989, its amazing what a bit of ingenuity and promotion can do.

PS Good start to the weekend, both North's U19s and U17s won yesterday. :D

Its about fairness and has nothing to do with comfort for the norf fans. If you want to be comfortable at the footy, you pay for it and sit the stand or dont worry about it and listen to it on the radio at home. If 2000 norf fans couldnt be bothered going to Unley today its their problem.

We went down that path with AO when we left Unley years ago and the club fought very hard to get our home back. Ground rationalisation was not every teams agenda in the SANFL during the 80s. Its fair to say that most clashes will get bigger crowds at AO no matter which teams play.

Check your facts about crowd size and have a look at how many turned up at prospect earlier in the year and then how many turned up at Unley today. You will find there wasnt a big difference in numbers. You would have also noticed that there was plenty of room for more fans to turn up, again not my problem norf fans dont want to travel.

Anyway game over, Blues keep marching on. WHOS NEXT?

What, you think it was only one early season comment that made him look a tool?
What about the other 599 things I could quote of his?

Sturt way too good today, Macgowan coached rings around Jarman but we knew before the game when we heard Allan (and Ladhams) as out that we were gawn.

Not all doom and gloom, the U17s, U19s and Ressies all won but in all honesty Sturt were a 12-15 goal better side today, the score flattered us because of some easy shots missed by Sturt as well us getting a heap of goals in garbage time (ie half way through the 3rd to the end of the game).

Just when you think you've seen everything at the footy we saw something today we'd never seen today (well one bloke I talked to had). Alleway took a mark on Sturts goal line between the goal and point post. Went to kick it back into play and kicked it bang into the point post. Confusion reigned but the umpire actually made the right decision in giving him another kick as the ball never came back into play, it certainly didn't deserve another North kick but that's the rules, funny as buggery and it started our run in garbage time.

Another aside, WTF has happened to the 25 metre rule? There was a heap of 7 metre penalties given today, weren't even close to 15 metres let alone 25!!![/quote]

Taking this a step further just how many of those 25 metre penalties were warranted :? and in fairness to your coach I am pretty sure your own comment about Sturt earlier in the season was along the lines of "they are really not that good". Please explain.................

Let's be honest Wedgie. Half of those penalties didn't even deserve 7 metres... I agree with the point you're making but was a bit disappointed by how readily the umps dished them out...

As for the game, I think the Blues proved that they will have what it takes to do what's required in the major round. North got blown away in the third quarter but I don't agree that it was ever going to be a 15 goal margin.

Best game I've seen from Luke Crane (possibly the SANFL's recruit of the season). Chambo worked hard, kicked 5 and dished off a couple of others. I was worried how the back line might go without having Chaplin's size and composure but they all stood up. A great game by Whiteman and I was impressed by Wark at times. Feasty was back to his early season form and Sheedy was again outstanding.

I agree with what you're saying Purch in regard to the skill errors (on both sides). There were a heap of turnovers but in most instances they were brought about through pressure.

Hats off to Ben Hart (surely too old for such a stupid hair style) who showed he still has a fair bit of footy left in him (no way at AFL level though). He stood out for the Roosters today but just didn't have enough following his lead. From what I saw of Gill, I'd doubt he'll be playing for the Crows this year. He did a couple of things but overall was rather unimpressed...

Given North's upcoming games, I could certainly see the Eagles pushing them out of the top three.

As for Sturt, let's hope we don't treat Westies lightly as they're bound to be fired up over the Weed's non-appointment.

Also, what's the story with North's pre match warm up? Green things over guernseys, etc... Is this another example of Jarman Magic?

Strong word is the drums are not just beating for Jarman, they are banging louder as time passes. Feeling is building that he hasn't got the best out of the list at disposal and that some figures at club are getting somewhat impatient at return v investment...

Dude, that was exactly my point, can't you read??

Your reading ability is obviously about as good as your memory when I was backing you up against the Bays fans earlier this year.

And why are you turning into such a cocky peanut all of a sudden?
2 league games between the clubs in 2007 (I wont even go as far as what the record is in the last 3 years), North won one by 46 pts, Sturt won one by 28pts not to mention North won the U17s, U19s and ressies this weekend.

Similar to your gutless inability to take Glenelg fans on before the season started on with their bet you welcher.

Wedgie, it appears that Sturt fans are the masters of kicking people when they are down, they are setting themselves up for a barrage of replys if/when their roll falters. How things change, last year after with 6 consecutive 90 points+ losses in a row Sturt fans were non existant, suddenly they are the heaviest posters on this site

Nah mate, good day, but when you're the only person backing up someone and he turns on you whilst actually agreeing with the point you're making it annoys you a tad.

What do you expect LBT? Of course Sturt are going to have more posters as their success continues...It's like attendances for winning teams vs losing teams. Hey, I sure know how cyclical footy is and that things can turn around quite quickly (ask Southee!)...If you don't want any more Sturt posters I'm sure there's something you can do in this wonderful technological age to block them from joining...

BTW, I have over the last few months pondered why there aren't that many Central posters (given their success). Has the computer age not made it past The Old Spot Hotel yet? :)

Is it me or what.

Port beat North last week, we have Port fans coming out of the woodwork, not just to jump on the bandwaggon, but to troll and post nothing but drivel and abuse. (Exceptions to those who have been on here week in, week out)

What a differfence this week against Sturt. banter, match analysis but no trolling and no abuse.

What can I say. Similarities are the same. North have been hammering both pretty much for a while and both games were important to all fans.

Hmmmm
