Thougyt the amatuer league wanted to keep clubs playing against the same club in all 3 grades to try and entice the triple-header deal more often? Correct me if I'm wrong, because I very well could be.

def right. there is no relegation promotion in c grade any more. this is the reason why they made it c1 c2 etc. if they go back to the original div 8 9 and 10 this will change, but gepps are stuck in c1 until their a gr drop to div 2. the focus is on the a grade of each club, your b gr follow as the res side but mostly the c grade is for the older or not so good players to have some fun, which seems to be happening this year. the comps been fairly even apart from a few glaring exceptions but at least all the teams arnt getting beaten by 30 g week in out like what was happening with gepps last year

I got my information out of the Booklet they issue you with- but it related generally, & was not specific to Div C.
In my opinion, they can't sustain C's aligning with the A's & B's past 1 season.

I'll use Fitzroy as an example...
Suppose the A's play in the GF (what happens to the B's isn't important for this exercise), they move up into D4. Under your theory, Fitzroy's C5 team move up to C4, despite not making the finals.
Is it fair to put a penalty on the C grade side?
Let's say they get thrashed 9 times out of 10, blokes drop off & the C grade folds- what benefit is that to the SAAFL?
& by the way, insert any club (with 3 sides) into the above scenario...
On the flip side, what about the GF's from the C grade divisions?
Shouldn't they be penalised, by stepping up a grade, or conversly, 2 bottom sides relegated to give them a chance?
As it is this year in C5-
Flinders Uni- have no "A's or B's" they ARE the A's
Adelaide Lutheran, Central United & Kenilworth- A's & B's in D5
Hope Valley, Hectorville, West Croydon & Golden Grove- A's & B's in D6
Plympton forfeited their C5 side- their A's & B's are in D5
So we didn't start with a "perfect" scenario, but it was good/close enough (with the exception of including Flinders Uni). Through natural attrition, C grade sides should rise & fall as their form warrants- not the form of the A grade.
It would be a much better scenario for Fitzroy C grade, to keep playing against "like" sides (again, this goes for any club C grade)

Yes, the C's are a feeder side to the A's & B's, but our club is stronger this year for having a C grade- & we've developed some players as well.
