Centrals will be looking for the eagles to make a tight contest with finals type pressure so that they can get some hardness into their game. With games against Eagles, North & Sturt in the next four weeks, this will be a good build up.

Interesting dilema Mickey agreed. Would we be a little top heavy though if you include Grocke along with the three you mentioned?

Never said Centrals are unbeatable have been saying all year they are beatable, Sturt proved that they are...

Will take a good side to beat them and you (the eagles) are capable of doing it, just scratching my head wondering how a team can go from being "leaps and bounds ahead of the comp" and then 12 hours later "Not in as good as form of late"...

Tassie - there win loss record shows they are leaps and bounds ahead of the comp as per my post yesterday but most centrals fans would tell you although they are continuing their winning ways but it hasn't been done in normal central dominant fashion. That is what I meant.

How true! Two of our last four games have involved wins by 158 points and 108 points. Another was against Port at Alberton where nine times out of ten we lose. Yes, very poor form, Central!!
Having said that, I do expect the Eagles to win this week. This is the time of year that we are preparing ourselves for the finals by training hard and experimenting. We have nothing to gain from this week's match. On the other hand, a win for the Eagles greatly enhances their double-chance aspirations. This is also the time of year that the Eagles normally beat us.
Cheers!

You are probably correct Bulldogproud.I am not sure about WWT always beating Centrals at this time of year. What I do think happens is the loser of the grandfinal wins the anzac day match (more times than not) and the next game the loser of the ANZAC day match wins.
Of course this year it was back to front because WWT won the grand final for a change!!
And you are the second poster to post about Centrals harder training perhaps you are right.
And lets not forget that the EAGLES are winning with new blood in the team something that has not happened a lot down at woodville. What i mean is that normally one or two players get in this year we seem to be playing more and more youngsters due to injuries. And I understand last year we tried a large amount of youth this year they have earned the right to stay in the team .How the youngsters handle a strong Centrals team will be interesting to watch.

The dogs are still playing quite well, but perhaps a slight edge has been taken off. Still, the dogs are at a level above the rest of the comp and should beat the eagles. However, anything can happen on the day. Hopefully the reserves can also get their act together. For a team that should be close to some league teams for strength they're playing very poorly at the moment.

I expect the Eagles to win. I believe the Eagles are building to a level equal or better than last year. I don't think the Dogs have made up 76 points worth of ground.

Dutchke didn't come up? Or just dropped? Expecting Obst to be the one to miss out.

I think the dogs are building to the 2004 level and I don't think the Eagles are 125 points better than that team.

Dogs this year are by far a better side than last year. More settled and less players running around with injuries, unlike last year.
Just because the eagles beat the dogs in a Gf doesnt automatically make them a better team than the dogs this year.
Looking at what the two clubs have gained and lost over the summer to improve their lists , the dogs would be miles ahead.(probably more than 76 points)

I am hoping the EAGLES win .Will be interesting to see if the dogs can hold three big men in the EAGLES forward line .As well as the pace of Lomas and Symmons .
Was hoping Passador would get a recall but not this week .Be interesting to see who goes out of the team from the bench all the small men are hard in and under players.
And interesting to note shirley was back in the crows team.

 That's a "sweeping" statement. Despite the Eagles having a horrendous run of injuries which accounts for someof the form and the slow build up, you have still a long way to go to get a top 3 spot by the end of the minor round (although I think North's form slump will probably help you :( ) but your not the same side you were last year but again you haven't been anywhere near full strength so the jury is still out at this stage.

I think the Dogs are a much stronger and far more versatile side this year and from what I have seen so far I think that 76 points might be the minimum margin your team will lose by if Centrals decide to turn it on tommorow.

Not sure miles ahead, just watched the 2006 GF highlights today :D don't forget the 2005 Jack Oatey Medallist Mcabe retired after the GF humiliation, albeit offset by the recruiting of Callinan.
The dogs would be hungrier but the fear of losing again will bring its own pressure come finals.

Something when it comes to GF's the Eagles are more than qualified in. Another sweeping statement!

If McCabe out and Callinan in is the only change you see from last year to this for Centrals, then don't comment on our side.

I am looking forward to the game, always a tough contest mid-year at the ponderosa between these two sides.

Dogs by 5 goals I reckon.
