Why were people lining up to get into the Clipsal at 6:30 this morning? Not like you have to rush to a seat

Some people get in and stake their claim for turf up against the fence / wall. They'll lob their chairs, picnic blankets etc in their favorite spot and claim it for the weekend ahead.

Yep, same as the members area at the old footy park....All the grannies lining up, get in and spread their rugs across the seats
