Thredgold? Oh Dear, who really needs a budget?

Wedgie, let it go and let him have his "fun" - you don't need to lower youself (not that your capable of doing so) down to his level. He obviously has nothing to say in reply to my last post which I thought was pretty reasonable and he did pose the question earlier as to how Sturt got a 50 point lead?

BPBRB wrote:Sturt1 - you got in front by the margin you did because you played very good football and North were unaccountable to a degree that assisted. I'm sure if you had a full deck to pick from (or near enough not counting AFL players as both teams had 2 taken) then you probably would not have got beaten if you held a 50 point lead however North went in without a number of first choice players too in our Captain Wintle, Vice Capt Brett White, Kaesler, Kingsley Walker and Weatherley also on the injuured list so it's all about equal in that regard.

In the end North stepped up finally and put some pressure on, made some moves and manned up and we over run you. As for the inexperienced Sturt side that many Sturt people are claiming ran out - to a degree that is right but you also had guys like Feast, Sheedy, Whiteman, Thredgold, Chambers who have played alot of football - check the budget as per games played and see who had the most experienced group of Senior players plus those who have been premiership players? North also had blokes like Cubillo, Gallman, Wright and Wundke - none of who have played more than 12 games so there was inexperience from our side too. Injuries didn't help you with Feast and Sheedy during the game but we lost Ryswyk and Motlop as well so we ended up with only 19 fit plus a badly limping Jimmy Allan.

The fact is we had a win from nowhere which suprised all of us North people after the first half showing. As I said on another thread it may be cold comfort but Sturt are a very good side and if they get a few in's this week and play the type of footy they played in the first half then there is no reason they can't beat the bays but it will be hard becasue the Bays would be the form team of the comp over the second half of the year.

Finally someone who appreciates that north had an opposition last night. You will find though that Thredgold is part of our coaching panel.

Its not a matter of who had the most experience out there, or who had more players out. The importance of that game was huge but now rather than basking in the result, get ready for the eags, rather than tell us how much glenelg will win by next week worry about norths run in the finals.

I didnt know how tough Brett O'hara was until last night. Proved he could fight and clean up anyone. Well done.

I have read a several posts by 'Northies' criticising the lack of accountability in the first 1/2 half as well as coaching mistakes and match-up issues.

Go back and have a read .....

no mention of the opposition northie

I think you meant Weatherald.

FWIW the only players on your experienced player list that were on the ground for 4 quarters last night were Whiteman (who was best for us IMO) and Chambers (6 goals)...they did their bit. No excuses but.

Bugger it, I'll start next week, there will be plenty of Bays highlights.

Come off it Wedgie you knew exactly what you were doing with that headline.

When we lost Feast, Sturt's game plan went with him. Deluca was unable to control the ball in the middle and he and Kurtze didn't have the same presence around the ground combined as Feasty.

Of course, there was also a little matter of one Ben Hart, who had been given a first half bath, who stepped up in the second half and showed his absolute class...bloody hell he was good.

Thanks Purch - that's who I meant.

Look in reality North got a good win but still not convincing in terms of how far we can go and to be fair, if it were North in the same position as Sturt re Friday nights match I would be pretty pissed off too losing when you lead by 50 points however I have seen North blow double chances in 2004 after leading both Glenelg and South in our last two games (we were up by 8 goals in the second quarter in that game against South!) and lose it again in 2005 when Norwood "out swam" us in the last round at AO.

You get used to it despite it being frustating but that's football sometimes.

P.S. You people who complain should remember that we at North had to sit through a GF having kicked only 1 goal. We know what it is like to lose or choke!
