Actually even though they play the same position they're completely different players, probably 2 that would compliment each other working in tandam.

What will the dogs do if they cannot get Huddo because the tigers need a ruckman or two.

Fair call ... Biglands gives you that versatility of a bigger marking option up forward ... Was Hudson ever used in stints up forward for the Crows?

Some weird happenings down at Cowland.

Any hints Wedge ???

The obvious would be Gilly

Well Gilly is out of contract and just reported on the news (if you can believe them) that he at this stage has not been offered a new contract and no talks have been undertaken, surely not

Sensationalism on behalf of Channel 10. Do you SERIOUSLY believe he won't be at the AFC in 08'?

You wouldn't think so but word out of Crows camp earlier in the year was that they'd conceded Gills body wasn't up to the rigours of AFL training and he would be gone at the end of the year.
Its just a matter of if Gilly's end of season form was enough to change their mind again.
Nothing would surprise me down there at the minute though.

let me clarify, people are commenting that the crows have shown a lack of respect with their offer, are people aware of the table offer, I certainly am, in my opinion, it was a fair offer.

I also stand by the decision, that the crows should only offer a two year deal, rather than a three year deal.

So why have the WB offered a 3 year deal, I don't believe they feel confident with their young ruckman.

Losing Hudson creates a clear pathway and opportunity for Griffen and Maric, if I was Ivan or Jon, I would be itching for pre-season to start, they may be young, but they will develop into very good players, here is their opportunity

At the beginning of the year, many members pin pointed Adelaide's ruck division as their weakness, Hudson was competitve, however he is no Lade, Cox, McIntosh, but maybe Maric or Griffen could be the next McIntosh, they now get their opportunity......

With the retirement of Roo, the trading of Hudson and Kenny, not to mention Perrie ( 2 top 8 clubs are interested in Ian), this is an opportunity for Adelaide to re-invent their list, maybe obtain a Didak, Cameron Wood and a McMahon

This would be a very good result for the footy club

Take a look at the "Who the Crows would delist and Trade" thread

Page 1 of this thread I posted the following

Hudson, my mail is he may be keen to return to Melbourne, I would be more than happy to trade him, Biglands will be back in 2008, Maric, Griffen and Tippett provide enough young stocks.

I knew this was coming a long way out

It basically comes down to the Crows having a policy where they can only give him a 2 year contract and he wants a 3 year contract to help secure his future which the Bulldogs are offering him.
The Crows are hamstrung by their "policy", perhaps instead of a having a policy they should have used common sense and treated every case on its merits?
Perhaps not.

No problem with any of your opinion there Syd, was just questioning how you castigated people on one hand for not knowing the offer, but then suggesting you did is all

Thats awesome syd, I'm stoked for you, I don't recall denying you hadn't predicted this ... Had you said "I've seen the paperwork of the proposal(s) put to him" then I could understand the relevance of what you've just pointed out, but alas as it is I do not!

the bottom line is

WB offered him 3 years, basis of this, in my opinion, they have concerns on the quality of their young ruckmen comming through their footy club

Wedgie

Huddo is 29, the crows could have offered him a 3 year deal, however, the decision not to offer him the 3 year deal was not based on age, but based on the belied, that in 2 years time both Griffen and Maric will be in front of Huddo as lead ruckmen

Craigy has been critised for not progressing the kids, their is some merit to this criticism, this occasion, his has declined to offer Huddo a 3 year deal and put faith in his young chargers, he has to play these kids now, if Huddo stayed, we could of ended up with Huddo and Biglands playing and Maric and Griffen being starved of opportunities.

FFS if Griffen and Maric left due to a lack of opportunity, imagine the critism then, we should of been playing Griffen and Maric instead of Huddo and Biglands

FFS, he's not 29, he's 28!!!!
Why do 60% of Crows supporters want to age him by a year today?
And he's a young 28 at that because of his late start in footy.
As far as a normal ruckman goes he'd be hitting his peak but it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't for another year or 2 because of his late start.
He's probably the equivilent to an onballer or wingman that's 25.

How old is Lade who got All Australian selection? 31?

Speaking of Port, their supporters will be happy that they'll be able to start winning showdowns again now.

Wedgie

my point, whether he is 28 or 29, the crows Policy does not restrict the contract term, until the player turns 30

Lade, lets remember, he has been a quality player for many years

How old was Cox when he won his first All Australian, How old is McIntosh, it is difficult to make comparisons

This year we had, Huddo, Maric, Griffen, Tippett and Messen

Next year we will have Biglands, Maric, Griffen, Tippett and a new ruckman via the trades or Draft

So, have we lost a lot of ground, NO

Spot on. The Crows seem to use lots of policies and rules. They even play that way on the field.
