Tait is exactly the type of bowler the sub-continent nations have trouble with. He'll get 1-2 wickets an innings just through pace and bounce. Him in the side will allow Lee to become a more consistent bowler. Australia needs MacGill to play and play well. He is a much better bowler than Hogg. Glad they've picked Jacques as opener.
Will be an interesting summer. The Aussies should beat Sri Lanka 2-0 and should beat India as well. My tip is for S. Clark and Hussey to "average out" this summer.

Just ask yourself this question on a 5TH day turning pitch do you want a chinaman or a big spinning leg spinner????

I'd want the guy who is the better bowler and in this case there is no doubt whatsoever that the better bowler is Stuart MacGill.

Agreed 100% I don't understand how there's even a question mark over this have we forgotten the bags of wickets MacGill has taken at the highest level before?
MacGill is capable of 6-70, Hogg at best would go 3-90 .... that's the difference IMO
Granted, Hogg seems to have improved a lot over the last 18 months maybe he'll prove me wrong

Other than that, we have no idea what the make up of the bowling attack will be until the day. I do know that there is no way they'd be picking 2 spinners.
May be wrong but didn't they go in with two spinners either last test or the test before that up there, seem to remember some little outcry about it at the time

justin langer commenting on macgill v hogg
"I've got an old saying that you pick character over cover drives. If you want to play a long time in the baggy green cap you can't just be a good cover driver or a good leg spinner, you've got to have a lot more qualities than that"
maybe it will be taken into account
