If you;re looking for a 'premium' beer that is much closer to home it is hard to go past that old fave of Southwark Premium.

Little Creatures? If so, then a fine drop. Pale ale, bright ale or pilsener.

Have to disagree with you there. Cascade pale ale (distinct from the premium lager) is possibly the most underrated beer in the country. Head and shoulders in front of any other "swilling" beer in the land. Presumably since this isn't a "premium" beer it will remain in the 375 ml bottles. Fingers crossed...

Coopers Pale 1st
Southwark Pale 2nd
Cascade 3rd
Our local had Southwark on tap and we forcefully got used to it over Coopers, but when we tried Cascade we preferred Southwark. Dunno if they still make it. The local has moved to Coopers and we're not overly disappointed.

I have had Southwark Pale and enjoyed it too. They even had it on tap at a place in Smith Street here in Melbourne a few years ago!I had a few(!) schooners of it at the Eagles Club when I came over in April. VERY easy to drink - it has an interesting texture; extremely soft.
