Why would you drop a guy capable of what Elliot has done in the Franger Cup?
It has to come good in the 4 day format sooner or later and from what I have heard in interviews his knee is now the best its been for 3 years

Yep and time for me to once again point out that stats don't tell the whole story.

Ah okay cool, so his career high average with SA of 29 is getting the job done?

Plant should be given another oppertunity, averages below 20 but that's about the combined average of Elliot over the past 3 seasons. At 23 least he has room for improvement.

So you can't back up your argument with stats despite using them to start it?

This is laughable. I would've thought a 36 y/o with a FC average of about 21 over the past 3 seasons wouldn't have many ppl sticking up for him, and yet here I am reading all this,.

No, you see your problem is you are trying to tell people Matthew Elliott should be dropped from the SA 4 day side based on stats yet you can't provide the name of a player who has better stats. That is laughable.

RR, that's the problem isn't it, and it's a blight on the state of cricket in SA. If Elliott was averaging 20 odd but there was someone making runs constantly under him and was a ready replacement, sure, move him on. But there isn't. So we have to persist, using him as a caretaker until that person avails themselves to selectors.
