i've played and coached against ovingham for many years in many different grades, the one constant was heather. she's many things, annoying, antagonistic among others but you couldn't ever fault her passion for the club.
it would be a shame to see them fold but i do believe that a grade clubs need to be in div 7 minimum.
G'day Finn,
This is Benno.Hows it going mate?Just wanted to drop you a line and explain where I'm coming from.I'm no longer involved at Ovingham.I live in Sydney these days but even if I did'nt,the fact that the club sacked me after 2004 means I probably would'nt be there anyway. That doesnt change the fact that I still love the club and want them to do well.Over the past three years I've kept in touch with Locky and still take a keen interest in the club. You are right when you say that you could'nt ever fault Heather's passion. She has been a wonderful servant of the club for many, many years, but that does'nt mean to say that her approach and idea's are the best way to take the club forward. It seems as though new people have come to the club at the request of the comittee and noticed straight away that things need to change for the club to improve and get stronger through the grades, which is exactly what I said myself after the 2004 season. It's embarrassing for the club to have been in Div 10 for all these years and the blame for that lays squarley at the feet of the comittee, which Heather has always controlled. Many quality players have left the club over the last few years because there has never been any effort made by the comittee to become bigger and better. They seem to be happy to be in Div 10 with one team and that is just not good enough.I hope for the clubs sake that Heather can swallow a bit of pride and return.Perhaps concessions need to be made on both sides for this to happen, and for the club to become strong.I do know that the club has'nt gone forward over the past seven years and something was bound to give.Tell me, are you coaching this year?If so which grade.
Anyway, I look forward to reading your posts and wish you all the best for the year.
Long live the Cats!
