EP Sport - back with a vengeance

Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Postby another grub » Tue May 23, 2006 11:43 am

Morning Gents, lets move on from the association games talk. It will obviously be looked at in the future. OL totally rediculous comments and the ones that did play last Saturday deserve to have a crack at Mortlock for putting thier hand up.
Back to the local stuff whats everyones thoughts on this weeks matches Lincoln South v Tasmans should be a cracker, very hard to line-up where either team has an advantage. Be interesting to see if Crouch, North, Jarvis, Cudderord and Taylor come up from their respective injuries.
Can I just comment on the Times' coverage issue btb. The GM obviously has commitments and cant get to all the games every week. He can only go off the information provided (which is very little). No write-up will be included on the Districts game on Thursday as no one bothered to get back to the GM (ie coach). If people don't want to promote their sport they should take the blame not a sportswriter who makes many a phone call and gets no response.

Grub - Are you telling me that GM wasn't at the LC v GF junior games. If not why not. He shouldn't do a write up if he's not there cos what was put in the paper was tacky.
Secondly, was anyone asked to do a report on the Ceduna games. If not why not. And also if not, you just don't expect the coach or whomever (from either side) to know that they have to arrange for a match report. Sounds like organisational problems to me.
And that last sentence is crap - why does he need to make phone calls if he's at the games. I thought the Times appointed a person who's at the match to write a match report on each game. Who was appointed at last weekend's junior games in Port Lincoln and for the whole day at Ceduna?

Grub - if those 5 are in the side v Tasmans, I reckon Souths would be too strong. I reckon your good players are better than their good ones and then it just relies on depth. (stuff the letter to the ed. - I'd rather ring them)

back from a few days r&r, and feel I need to clear up a couple of matters. Firstly grub, comments made in respect to the times coverage of interleague are thos of G Schreiber and he alone. Please do not associate me with any of those comments as I have the utmost respect for the journalistic integrity of the GM. The only comment I will and have ever made about the write ups, is that if they are written solely from the BP & GK list, then don't be cheeky and put your name to it. We have all taken phone calls from him after a game to confirm info, thats ok but he needs to check some of that info....eg D Schuppan's 3 mail medals (cunnas answered that one).
The resident troll seems to have stirred up TRR and JQ...fellas rise above it. We all voted to keep him in, doesn't mean we have to take any notice of what he says. Dont forget....

As for WCP's old Lincoln District chestbeating, it's a tradition based on past history not unlike valentines day. Some choose to get involved each year, but no body can really remember what it's about. As most of us City supporters are firmly based in the current era, when Lincoln City has by far been the dominant side, we need only smile and look forward to another dominant mortlock.

You have got to be f...g kidding me don't ya!!!! City have been absolutely pathetic for near on 30 years, there can be no come back to that. Rather than debate this issue, yourself and TRR offer reasons why (transient nature etc) they have been the weak link of PL in representative footy. To then offer the above is laughable. How long is an era, 1 year??? And do try to remember, you fluked your win coming from the early Saturday game against Far West while Districts took care of Flinders and Mid West for you, both favourites for the title. We also didn't lose a Mortlock match for three years only two years ago. Cities era, pfft......

I sense I've swallowed some bait here but your not getting away with that sort of tripe.....

2 out of 3, not bad, couldn't beat the side you really wanted to though (gee that was a satisfying day). Let's try 97-2004, that gives us 4 out of 8. Eclipses your twenty years from 85 - 05........

Happy to talk eras and the past - just dont be selective about which past your including and excluding - sounding a bit selective

Your "era" in which u played Panther was very successful - no doubting that......and during that time we were dreadful.......congratulations and be thankful - cause there have been times when your club has been dreadful and had long stints without flags....

So it's hard to swallow you telling us how bad we were - and how good u blokes are........I think that we are very lucky to belong to successful clubs

Absolutely incorrect panther, last year was the sweetest of all by a long way. Not many times you geta chance to end the Roosters and Rangers seasons in successive games, and then beat Mallees in the GF. They were the team that we really wanted (and needed) to beat in the big one.
