A1 coach of the year

Jamie Thomas has done a great job at Salisbury North this year. Coach of the year? Did well to offload egos 2 years ago.

Your right Oldnumber7, thats why the clubs moving forward, those ego's were holding back youngsters & taking far too much money which caused more than its fair share of trouble amongst the players.
Maybe TT Gully should take a leaf out of Salis Nths book!
Jason Roe ( Gepps Cross ) & Steven Hall ( Henley ) would have to be up there.
The premiership coach would be the coach of the year wouldn't he?

what if a guy takes a team from being really bad the year before to teh finals but doesnt make the gf, compared to a coach who has takin his team to finals and gf's last few years etc... who would be the coach of the year.....

Agreed, don't necassarily think the premiership coach is the best coach. Same way the league best & fairest isn't always from the premiership team.

Know doubt that has merit but a coach that has had a couple of losses throughout the year & comes out with the flag gets my nod.
Don't get me wrong your point is valid if their hasn't been any dominant side in the comp.
The SAAFL have always given it to the premiership coach regardless of how many losses they have had which is sometimes wrong.

what's so different about Richmond finishing 9th, it's their natural position

I'm a Richmond member, not really much fun...

What about Eade? I'd have Eade before Thompson. Would've been Thompson last year, but with the list in the state it is this year any coach in the comp could've won a minor premiership.

I think Mills ( Goodwood ) proved his worth as coach of the year for season 2008.
