Agreed, don't necassarily think the premiership coach is the best coach. Know doubt that has merit but a coach that has had a couple of losses throughout the year & comes out with the flag gets my nod.
Don't get me wrong your point is valid if their hasn't been any dominant side in the comp.
The SAAFL have always given it to the premiership coach regardless of how many losses they have had which is sometimes wrong.

What about Mark Thompson from Geelong who for example go top v Terry Wallace and Richmond 16th to 9th?

What about Eade? I'd have Eade before Thompson. Would've been Thompson last year, but with the list in the state it is this year any coach in the comp could've won a minor premiership.
