Would be an interesting aerial shot; All five clubs at the bottom of the hill would be between Brighton and South Road.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

I will stand by my post but after discussion with a couple of Edwardstown players, there is obviosly a lack of communication at the club and none if any debate from the playing group.
1) most of the players do not want to play SFL
2) They beleive that the President is the only one pushing the agenda
3)If they do go into SFL my mail has at least half the senior group would leave.
4)The SFL have a special presidents meeting on the 7/10/08 re Edwardstown.
5)I know that the SFL executive want Edwardstown 09 with A/B/18 to start off.
THOUGHTS??????

SB,

1) 12 months ago majority of the players wanted to stay in the SAAFL as opposed to shift to the SFL, at this stage only 8-10 senior players are aware of exactly what has transpired they ARE ALL IN AGREEANCE of moving south... The remainder of the playing group will be notified in the very near future...

2) Whilst the president has been a key player in facilitating the probable move he has been one of a number of people that have been involved, inaccurate to he is the only one pushing for the change...

3) This one is 180 degrees opposite of the truth. The senior group and all the players play for EFC not the SAAFL & not the SFL.

4) Yeah delegates meeting the Tuesday after the pub holiday where a 75% majority is required, projected vote 90-100%

5) Correct!!!

Plenty of disgruntled clubs in the SAAFL that are fed up with the league, I'm sure there are a number of clubs that will watch keenly how Edwardstown go [on and off field] and if it is positive may look at a similar venture. SFL could be a 20 team, two division format by 2012...

Northern Confrence

Marion
Edwardstown
Phos
happy Valley
Cove
Brighton
Morphie Parks
Flaggies

Southern Confrence

Morphett Vale
Porties
Hackham
Lonsdale
Aldinga
Norlunga
Reynella
Christies

Have a 15 round season with each team palying each other twice making it fairer for all. Then at the end of the season have a champions v's champions game. No need for promotion or relegation each year. What are everyones thoughts?

What benefits are there for PHOS & Edwardstown joining the SFL? Both clubs have had success with the SAAFL, can't see anything special for them by moving to the SFL. Thoughts please!

Apparently the affiliation fees or whatever they are called are much much cheaper in the SFL. Also the junior comp is run on the same day as seniors which makes for a better atmosphere, bigger crowds, greater club profits etc

Not sure that's a valid reason, the Affiliation fees might be a bit more but don't think they're financially buggered. I would have also thought both clubs would have too many juniors, ie each age group from U'9 to U/18 so how would all these teams fit in on a Saturday?

some junior grades could still play in the msjfl as they do now..

finances..hmm..only they know that..

bigger crowds..definitely..

more turnover at bar and canteen...yes..

lose players..have to..they would not get 100% of their players all coming over..

Jayne, finally someone to shed some light on this subject.
As you have posted I do find it strange that only 8-10 seniour players are aware of the going on's,surely the club must be seen to be transperant in a decision that involves the whole club.
Also is there any truth that Trevor Mitton is to coach the club if you go into the SFL.

The Twisties reportedly applied to move their juniors to MSJFL two years back and were knocked back as clubs are only allowed to be affiliated with one league.

Aceman,in the SFL on Saturday you have 14/16/18/B/A 14 start at 8-15 on Sunday you have 2/3 4/5 6/7 that is school years and then your C grade follow. 2/3 start at 9. and also some sides have dual juniour sides in 14/16 and they also play on a Sunday.

I understand they have had 1 or 2 teams in each of the primary school grades Sunday mornings for the past several years, but lose a majority of those to SHOCs or other colleges. When they have a full compliment for a particular grade, I'd expect to see them post sides in the Sunday comp.

Sounds like a good arrangement, obviously it works well.

Meeting yes, I wouldn't call it urgent but yes there is a meeting Thursday. All the board members are fully aware of what has been happening over recent weeks and months; most of the players are aware of what is happening / after the meeting they will have a full understanding of why.

Trevor Mitton will not be coaching Edwardstown in 2009.
