HTF is ceiling insulation going to be a savior, surely the money would be more beneficial by building de-salination plants and getting pipelines from NT and Qld to pump water into the other states. It would create far more jobs and help the environment on a national scale.

Yeah i thought the whole insulation thing was a little strange. I think it'll be a long time before we see a govt take any action with the Australia's water issues. They'll probably wait until its too late before doing something about it.

Schools' facilities isn't the problem, it's the curriculum that needs upgrading/revamping!

Abstudy, Austudy, youth allowance basically getting any money from the govt to educate yourself. So school kids nup unless they indicidually get money to go to school. So your average 5 -15 yo won't get it. Just spoke to an electoral officer who works for a govt member...

I fail to see the point of giving out handouts for people sitting on their bum, wont that just encourage them to keep doing waht they are doing?

LM has a great point, Australia gets enough rain, just in the wrong places....a pipeline would costs billions but would be the solution LONG TERM but it would also cost the government the next election as they would have to stop these handouts so it wont get done

If they paid tax on their unemployment benefits or they could possibly fit into the category of "other income support", I'm no expert, I'm just trying to read between the lines of how it's written, I was pretty accurate with the last one.

A family with an income of $100K and a mortgage is not "rich". In my own situation I won't be getting anything, I've never had a free kick from the government in my whole working life or ever used social security, I'm rather proud of that and thank-you Mr Rudd for preserving my unblemished record

Go have a look at the Riverland, obviously you're not studying economics or agriculture. The farmers in the Riverland are on sh!t street atm, crops are running at 10% or less for a lot of them. You're educated, why don't you suss out if you're eligible or not.

Points 1 & 3 would not be necessary if point 2 was employed. I should've worded it better initially, there should have been an "or" in there somewhere.

Pumping water from North - South, would be a great idea, considering Darwin have a Dam they could start using again. They should've done it at the same time as they put the train line in.......
