This 11 have all been playing regularly, with the exception of King, but I'm not hiding the fact that he's our best player and even at 1% fitness, he's world class.

BUT, add in those that WOULD have started had they been eligible/fit: Woodgate, Palacios, Keane, Defoe.

i tend to agree with DA on this, united deff didnt have there second team or B grade whateva you want to call it on the field in the final, maybe not a full squad but still had 85% of there best team on the field.

My comment about Spurs not wanting to be in Europe was down to them fielding a very weak team for their 2nd leg UEFA Cup match recently.

Foster is also a very good keeper, the goal you posted DA was from years ago... even the greats make errors from time to time so you can't exactly write him off because of that. I would love it if he was eventually took over as #1 from VDS.

Have also been rumours in the past the Martin O'Neill would be Fergie's successor ... If they had him in mind whilst he was at Celtic, his performance at Villa wouldn't have done his chances any harm either.

Spurs had to field a weak team for the Shaktar game. We had a VITAL league game on the Monday prior, then a cup final the following Sunday. We have serious issues with eligibility due to players being cup tied etc, plus a couple of injuries. 'Arry had to play that side in the wafer, because had any players like Woody (injured anyway), Daws, King, Gomes, Bent, Pav been injured on Thursday, we'd have been ****** for the cup final.

Anyhoo, Man USA are going to win everything this year. It's ridiculous how good they are. Can't deny the fact that they're an awesome side.

Hmm hard to know if those managers benefitted after the Shankly era (and subsequently each manager before) ... Effectively they were all involved across a great era.

Something that has been /is lacking inmost EPL clubs (read most league clubs), with the short termism that exists today. Very few managers around have that affinity with the club they manager.

Dario Grady and Crewe is another that springs to mind.

And you have to admit, Fergie is Mr Man U. Phelan has been a Man U boy for a long time. Left the Clarets in 85ish and went to Norwich for a spell before moving on to ManU. And he would have seen Fergies work and methods at close hand, particularly since being promoted to assistant.
