Gepps did a good job. had the Minute silence, the Aussie Flag flapping in the wind and the Last Post.. bit of a hiccup with the reading (a bit like the Power game sat night  ) but can be difficult in front of a fair few ppl.
All in all a little bit of effort does make the day a bit more special and the hairs stand up on the back of the neck. i think the game was played in that spirit too.

One huge oversight though - by SMOSH and the SAAFL. There were no showers available for either team. Pretty cr@p effort IMO. I would of thought the SAAFL would check out a venue before giving the all clear.

I never want to hear someone from SMOSH bag anyone elses facilities ever again.

no showers..

yesterday..

wtf

thats primary school stuff really..

No, it was at St Micks secondary campus actually... ;)

Seriously, it was sh!t !!! More i think about it, the more sh!t i think it is !!!

Spoilt what should of been a good day,as far as an ANZAC celebration went.

Is it also true Felch that the little old umpire in the A grade is also a teacher at St Michaels College?? Bit of a joke if it is true!!

Yeah mate he was a teacher at the school. I think the ethnic bloke was an ex student teacher or something?

Great Effort again at Broadview. Weather wasn't kind on the day, but atleast is didn't rain during the ceremony.

Alan 'Thumpa' Keenhan our resident 'Digger' and trainer read the Ode, followed by Last Post, Flag at half mast, 1 minute silence and National Anthem. Thumpa then tossed the coin which was a great idea i thought.

Thanks to the GG Football Club , Umpires Etc who made it a great rememberance to those that made the ultimate sarifice to our country

Absolutely.... great day and couldn't agree more with you Turk. Well organised and great to be a part of. Great to have the Diggers a part of it, and great to see both clubs embrace the day and add it to the growing tradition between these two teams.
As for the footy, the B grade game was a slog, the A's was a great game all day and finished in exciting fashion as Greenies ran us down in the last few minutes. Enjoyable day overall though.
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

The Pines did a good job with the ode, bugle (via recording) minute silence and i think they did it for both matches... was that standard?

the footy was great too. two hotly contested matches, the magoos got drenched and due to extremely lousy weather 3 goals were kicked in the first quarter and they were the only goals for the match! The A grade was a fantastic contest with the Pines leading all day until the last 5 mins when we overran them.

You just cannot beat ANZAC day footy!!!

SMOSH did it for the A's only, but the B's lined up and stood with the A's which I thought was good!!

Reinhardt Schwidder is still a current teacher at the school. Has shown NO bias to us at all, if anything errs ont he side of the opposition.

in all honesty in the first half i think some of the umpire in questions decissions were questionable, although we didnt help the sittuation by going on with it, but in the second half i just think he was pretty poor alround, not meaning any disrespect but in those wheather conditions is there a possibility for a man of his age to struggle seeing things clearly with all the rain/mud and so on?

both B grade umps were shocking? i thought the A grade was a fair contest, best we have had all year.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Umps were horrid, all day, all grades. Poor decisions given both ways. Will cut them some slack though, as it was a shocking day weather wise.

Schimma, your B grade ump worries me. Not sure he actually knows what he is doing. Doesnt know how to signal a free kick correctly, and is very poor at communicating his decisions. He has been umpiring for a long time too. He was terrible last time i saw him umpire, 5-6 years ago.

Awesome day at Salisbury Oval, had the bugle player with the minute silence with the teams lining up in front of the grandstand. Amazing thing to be a part of before a game of footy. And credit to the crowd too, not one bit of noise until the end of it.

An awesome day at Glenunga where they played host to us West Croydon boys.
Each team in both grades had a medal for B.O.G.
Prior to the A Grade game commencing all 4 teams lined up in front of the club where the Reserve grade medals were presented followed by the Ode and the Last Post which was superbly performed by a Glenunga U/13's player.
Two veterens were there to present the medals under the Australian flag.
Congratulations to both clubs for the effort that was put into making such an important day a success. Also congrats to all the players for the spirit both games were played in.

Sad to hear some other clubs did not embrace this historical day. Well done to those who did.

Next year being a Sunday with the holiday Monday will be good. I have a feeling that no club will be willing to embrace it in 2011.
