When was the last time Gums won by 30 goals? Maybe never? All grades that played won easily. Not good for the comp, or Cally, when the second bottom team from last year beats the bottom team from last year by so much. Gums have really improved on and off the ground in recent years with a small but loyal band of people at the club getting the results they deserve. Not getting carried away just enjoying the start of the year for a change.

They would have won by 30+ goals back in the days of Milang Football Club, I remember a day where Butch Mik kicked 25 or so goals so they would have won by 30+ goals on that day.

Any chance Callington might move on next year to the Mid Murray? Could be a mutually beneficial move!

Seen some funny things on Saturday (Kangy Vs Echunga) in regards to Umpires Decisions. a grade a red card was given for a fair bump (Maybe Hill Umps been watching too much AFL) it was head high but was accidental. The second one was in the Magoos. Where the umpire actually gave a 50 metre for a comment from the crowd. He even turned around to us at one stage and had a go (verbally). When asked by the crowd at a later stage protect the player, he again turned to the crowd as said, He can look after himself, Interesting Umpiring, that is all, and very funny.

With all due respect, I don't think Cally will be moving at all next year OTP. Good luck to Gummy though; great to see some good stuff happening! Especially deserved, as they always treated Milang and other strugglers with respect and have never lost sight of Country Footy and all it stands for. The highlight of the round would have to be the Brookers though. ONYA LADS!
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

TIPS for Round 4.
Callington Vs Kersbrook - Hmmm I reckon we will see some records broken here, if they do not rest players. (Either the Number of Goals by a single player or Team will be broken) Kersbrook by 50+ goals
Meadows Vs Gums - Interesting Game, I will go for Gumeracha just to get over the Dogs down there by 5 points.
Echunga Vs Nairne - Nairne May think they can match with Echunga, but giving it is looking to be a dry day, I would say Echunga by 10 goals +
Torrens Valley Vs Maccy - GH will not be happy with his investment last week, so TV by 15 goals.

Lot of love coming to Kersbrook after the weekend from non-Kersbrook posters. Does everyone still like seeing David slay Goliath? ;) Kersbrook Oval held up really well despite the conditions on the weekend and should be in good nick for the whole season (well done Ducky and team). Carter was missing for TV and Carslake for the home team, with the game being a nail biter, as the Brookers were behind all day and 3 goals down at 3/4 time. Some G&D got the Brookers over the line.

For the record the Kersbrook Tavern was packed all ANZAC day/night! ;)

Cougar first of all I would like to say congrats to all those at Kersbrook responsible for getting that oval back. I was there on Sat and the oval looked a real treat and hopefully this time it can remain that way. It is a great place to watch th footy from up on the hill near the clubrooms and listen to the "advice" from the crowd.

Secondly I think that the game was a classic example of a team playing against individuals. You blokes kept in all day, whereas TV played alot for themselves. No doubt if they gel they are streets ahead of most, but at the moment Kersbrook are a better team.

As for the tavern, I thought the quality lacked a bit, but the footy was on the big screen, the beer was cold and the entry was free so I shouldnt complain.

Also just heard from Mannum that they have signed Waterhouse, Wanganeen and Lyle, with the latter two to play when their work and other committments allow.

Thought you might be there Tanka ;) Ian Duckworth and crew have done a fantastic job with the oval, and his constant nagging for volunteers to help him out during the summer has paid off. If TV had a proper coach, they would be scarey, do you know of any available Tanka? Waterhouse's name has been thrown around everywhere, and I can't see GH squeezing him in his points. Couldn't make it to the Tavern myself, but Sprout's report on the event was similar to yours.

Kyle had a quiet first game but did well against Kersbrook and he seems to be getting a better understanding of how Simon wan'ts to use him.
Mick has been playing very well as you'd expect and for someone who seems to have a reputation for chasing the dollar, he's put in an awful lot of work off the field as well - especially before Christmas.
Woodards has been going well on the field (and off of the field  ). For someone who by his own admission 'was only a b grader' at Angaston, he's fit in well and has a good strong body and will only get better as the year goes on IMHO.

More importantly, how is SJ going?
Are you prepared to pay the price? WILL YOU PAY THE PRICE?

Nah they didn't. Gums had a good side on paper under GH, but NEVER beat Kersbrook under him, and reckon they always just missed the finals. In fairness to Gums, his spending doubled and trebled when at TV.

I reckon we did make the finals ONCE under him but didnt get past the first week. As cougar said, we always had a reasonable team on paper but nothing compared to what he has at his disposal now. I just wonder when he'll decide to pull the pin up there, or whether theyll keep him around for fear of going under.
