I dont reckon Mitchams oval is that bad
only thing that can make it bad is the cricket pitch
it is either a mud pit or as hard as bitumen, which can be dangerous if ya get tackled on!!
they should look at that, but apart from that, is an ok oval!
get on board the thunder train!!!

From what i heard Jon Kouts did his ankle pretty bad in first game and as for the oval im pretty sure that Sturt cricket club wont let them do anything to it ie dig it up

Credit to Mitcham, totally outplayed us for 2 quarters. 8 goals to 1 in the third was the difference. 57 points down at 3/4 time, to our blokes credit they kicked 7 to 2 in the last but the game was all over. We have looked flat for a few weeks now, IMO a few blokes have been looking at the premiership table and taking opposition sides too easy. Darren will address the situation this week. Take nothing away from Mitcham they played some bloody good footy, very hard to stop when their tails are up. Big test this week against SPOC might give us an idea of where we are at.

I'd say that's a fair assessment of the game, was great for us to get the hard earned points. 3rd quarter was some of the best footy I've been involved in, but to PH credit definetely came out giving it a good crack in the last. The boys definetely had something to prove after our efforts against Woody South, I think the possibility of another 9am beach training the Sunday after provided a lot of incentive.

Cheers to all the boys who came in for a beer after the game, need to ensure a few more of our lads stick around afterwards rather than heading home to dress up and do their hair for the Saturday night ahead. Looking forward to venturing down to Portland this week.

Walkerville could be the unlucky side this week....

Don't really enjoy playing at walkerville. Got smashed into the concrete drain that runs round the boundary a few years ago. Sh!thouse feeling.

I was probably a little harsh on Mitcham's oval. The last few years we only ever played there later in the season, and it was either boggy, or dangerously rock-hard in the centre square - pretty standard for ovals on that side of town i suppose. I imagine that its in pretty good nick early in the year, with the cricket club looking after it over summer.

Our's certainly isn't the worst I've seen, but you're right about the centre, can get very hard when it dries up after a bit of rain. Provides for some decent sized scratches, but I can't recall anyone suffering any bad injuries as a result. In saying that, if you don't get tackled in there, it isn't an issue ;) The rest of the oval is pretty good at this time of the year.

Didn't something happen last year against Haven ? IIRC, someone got knocked out in a tackle or something, hitting their head on the ground ??? Can't remember if it was one of you blokes or a Haven guy.

You are right though, we never had any issues with the square last year - we didn't get tackled in there... ;)

Tucker had his arms pinned courtesy of a Dempsey tackle, but it was well off the square, and just one of those tackles where you can't get your arms out to soften the blow, not an indication the rest of the ground is as bad!

...touche...will try and do something about that for you come round 15 :)

Mitcham play their ground very well, PH haven't had alot of success there over the years but i do think its a very big wake up call for the players, watch out for them breathing fire next week

We might fly him back from Qld just for the occasion ;)

I think you will find the record is 3-3 over the last 2 years (2007 & 2008). You smashed us a couple of times in 2007. I suppose us beating you in a qual. final and gf puts it in our favour though ;)

No doubt Tuck will have an influence, always does, he's more than recovered from the 3 clotheslines he copped in the GF!!

You're welcome to, but flights from the U.S. are more expensive...?
