Waite gone for the year, bad news for the blues!

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx

was at the game and saw first hand the incident, very nasty from a pretty innocuous situation.
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

Just got worse from the time Gibbs kicked straight to Tippett for the opening goal. Don't think I watched any of the game between Waite getting injured and him going down the race (didn't miss much anyway), just watched him hoping for a miracle that never arrived. Our players never arrived either.
Our most versatile player will be sorely missed.
Gives Setantrum a chance and even though he is not one of the coaches favourites, I don't think he has any choice but to play him.

Does anyone know WTF has happened to Heath Scotland, not in the side, not suspended (I think) & not on the injury list...

Didn't train much yesterday, and went down to the rooms after only 5 minutes. I dare say he may have an injury. He isn't listed for the Bullants either.

Good return game from Fish last night with his 3 goal and presented well. Hopefully he can keep his confidence up and stay in the side as we need someone to focus on other than Fev. Fev needs to stay in the goal square. Also Hoops has the polish we need entering the forward 50.
Nothing to write home about last night. Just a win we needed with our next three being difficult games in, Brisbane at the Gabba, Saints at Etihad and the Bummers at the G

Good win to Carlton tonight that makes up for one we dropped that we shouldn't have. Sets us up reasonably well for the run home and with a few players coming back in and Fev finally finding some form (and being played in the right position) we should hopefully contest our first finals series in a long time.

As a mate said to me last night - "As if Juddy doesn't have enough respect" ... Huge effort to keep trying to get out there, the bloke is just a champion in every possible sense.

Thought Bryce Gibbs worked his way into the match nicely last night when the Blues really needed something to happen on-ball .. Had he hit more of his targets by foot it would have been a great performance.

There's a lot to like about the Blues .. I keep hearing the echoes of a statement REB's made a few times and get the gut feeling he might be on the money.

I keep telling the Carlton supporters at work that the Blues have no defense. No defense= no finals!!!

Why is our defence rated 4th in the league before this game if we don't have one? If you're talking about injuries to our defenders then i'm with you but the young players down there stood up well in this game and have been good all year. Austin was really good and Bower did well but some of the delivery to Saint Nick was unstoppable. Joseph was also very good on Milne and is getting used to tagging AND hurting opposition on the way back.
Just wondering, how many Carlton games you watched this year to be an expert on our defence?

Voice, I keep saying to mates of mine that we wont go top till we get a strong key position backman, and that yes, our defence is our weakness. We struggle against big strong marking forwards. What we're doing now is using what I call third stringers (third talls) in key positions because we don't have that big strong body in defence that other teams do. I don't think we have "no defence" but I think we're susceptible to key forwards taking us apart. Essendon, Saints, Brissy for instance. Teams without a big power forward we seem to go better against, like the Bulldogs for instance.

So I think it's reasonable to say that our defence is our weakness, as well as maybe CHF and a third tall in attack.

Yeah, I agree but they are doing well considering and what I was really jumping on the sleeping midget for was his no defence, no finals comment. We will make finals with the backline we have even when we're missing Waite. If the midget was to say, 'they won't win a premiership with that defence' then I would agree.

True. At least we see our deficiencies for what they are.

Yeh, don't worry I didn't take it personally. It is like us with the Bulldogs at the moment. We can beat them comfortably but get beaten by you guys (read as FLOGGED). Weird. You guys just match up well against us. Monfries (Sturt boy) always seems to hurt us too goddamit!

Seriously though - I don't know how much the incidents during the week's played a part, cos I really don't think we're a 12 goal worse side than the Bombers. I haven't seen the game as I said, so I don't know - but I heard on the radio that Fev didn't mentally turn up tonight - I wonder who else didn't?

On top of all that, we don't play well at the G at all. So if we made finals, ever, we're in deep poo.

Good way to get back at the bombers for their round 3 celebration guys!

Exactly. No structure met with some woeful disposal and decision making. Ugly night out for the Blues.
