In seven of the games I saw this year clearly Jeremy Clayton was the most influential player on the ground.

1: J.Clayton.
2: McConnell
3: Inkster as a smokey

This is slightly off-topic but hooray for "Geoff Reynolds from Flinders Park" who was one of the people asked the topical question in the "Your View" section of Saturday's Advertiser.

Question: Should AFL players be required to wear black tie to the Brownlow Medal award :?:

Geoff Reynolds wrote:I don't think they should. I think it is a secondary medal in any case to the Magarey Medal. If the Magarey doesn't insist on it I don't see why the Brownlow should.

Hooray! :D

Is Geoff a poster on this site by any chance? This seems to be the place where people with these sort of non-mainstream views hang out.

Would think it would be out of Matthew Slade, Rhys Archard (given the season he's had with the number four team), or Clayton.

Scott McGlone a dark horse, perhaps?

Clayton to win

Postby SCD » Tue Sep 26, 2006 12:27 am

I like Clayton - think he is a good bet at the $2.50!

I'd like money on my Eagles boys Cicolella or Inkster both have had stellar seasons and we deserve to have a magarey medallist sooner rather than later.

No wasn't saying that at all. I know of previous years when the likes of Payze, Colville and Cicolella have all gone into magarey nights as red hot favourites only to be denied the defining glory. I'm just saying there's been some less than deserving winners in past years.

The year that B.Ebert won his I thought as a majority of people did that Cicolella was clearly best, another example was squire's second again should have been an Eagles medal this time Colville was jipped.

Obviously the rotational policy doesnt exist in the SANFL or the Eagles would have won a flag by now as well as having their magarey which they 'deserve'.
