good point Zed. i think at the moment too many blokes are willing to watch on and not dip into their pockets, as has been said before we have around half the blokes who haven't paid subs, which is 1 underlying problem, with this rectified we would have close to enough to cover it i reckon. lets see, we have approx 50 players at a guess, without seeing the list, if half have paid then that leaves 25, if those 25 paid their $150, we'd have $3750, bang. almost covered! this is one of the biggest problems we have atm.

we are going to organise a quiz night very soon and will post some details on here. maybe if we can offer something then we will get some more support!

Have to agree - I didn't know that so much is outstanding from within the club.

Fix the problem of subs and I will come to the party

As Jerry McGuire said "help me help you". I'll put in once subs are paid. If they can't get their own people to help, there will be a real battle to get people who are indifferent to Ovingham's plight.

Very good point Rotter and Jimminy Cricket. What is the point of saving Ovingham? Seems like there are really only one or two people who actually really want to be there. I appreciate the sentiment of saving a 100 year old club, but a club is made up of the people within it and it seems like there are only a few decent people in it.

You seem to be green with sickness that people would stoop so low to save a club that, for good or bad, is a part of the fabric of Adelaide football Boris.
Not very neighbourly is it....

How is it part of the fabric of Adelaide football Dowatcher? A tatty old thread perhaps. It needs to find its relevance otherwise it will quite rightly dissappear.

Can someone tell me the 'raison d'etre' of the Ovingham Football Club?

Boris does have some points but i think that if people are in a position to help out they should.

The issue of subs being paid has come up before and clubs have some good systems, why doesnt Ovies?

Would be a shame to see a club fold that is for sure

Same reason all other clubs exist I would think....
I think this thread would best be served sticking to positives and finding/encouraging solutions rather than OFC bashing. Just my opinion...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Boris is being a bit of an ogre. I agree Choccies, let this be a positive thread. It is not unreasonable to suggest that with solid plans and a strong committee in place Ovingham will be able to fill two sides next year and continue with their effort to become stronger in Div 7.
