If amateurs authorise will have to be played, but agree is a risk for the other side, 10 goal win much better option.

Really? what would they do if other team did not take to the field?

If they have given the go ahead to Ovies to play as a sanctioned game then the other side would forfeit.

If the SAAFL sanction the game for points its a no-brainer that they play!!!

The game should have been sanctioned at the start of the week in respect of the other side trying to prepare, leaving it until this late makes it difficult for all parties

No it shouldn't have, Ovies deserved the chance to come up with the money by Wednesday.

There is no way on earth that the SAAFL would force a team to play where there are no points involved.

Last week, this week, next week??? There is more to this weeks game than just Ovingham, what about next week for Flinders Uni how do they prepare not knowing if there is going to be a game or not. If they come to play under prepared thinking they are not playing and lose, they could miss the finals altogether as all the teams are closely matched on their day..

You prepare yourself like you do any other week, your club should find out Thursday morning and then inform the players when they arrive at training what the situation is. There's no alteration to your travel or accomodation plans FFS.

IMO you should prepare every week the same, especially considering it is not a 'BYE' as such... silly idea to prepare lackadaisically at all isn't it... especially if a finals spot looms...

Correct i agree with you but there will be no descision on this week until late tonight or more than likely tomorrow and that is my point we would have to ring and tell 40 odd players trainers umpires etc.........

as far as i was aware a descision is being made tonight and were told by SAAFL that they would notify by Friday which is poor. Athelstone might have no credit left on their phone. Good luck to Ovingham on overcoming the difficulties and getting BOTH their sides back on the park.

Congratulations to resident bloodnut Brett 'Bertie' Penn who will play his 150th game tomorrow. And not to be outdone, congratulations to Matty 'Get a f******* haircut' Ballatori and Brett 'Fish' Whales who also play their 100th game tomorrow. Why only A grade and how early were Athelstone notified? Don't get me wrong. it's great to see you guys still alive but Thursday evening is far too late to make a decision.

BTW, a couple of quick money spinners for you, book the bbq at a Bunnings outlet, should get at least $1000 for a day there or try and get a white or yellow pages run, I have the details and time is running out, pm me if you are interested.
