Yep, get rid of it. Absolute joke.
I don't know about other people, but I'd like to send Pakistan home and play three more Tests against the West Indies.

Aust 1 - 0 up in the series.
Only 1/2 way thru day 2 with fine weather forecast.
Ponting Surely would have thought Aust would have a 2nd Inngs
SO, the question remains,
Why did he declare??????
Aust bowled out for a WOEFUL 150 in the 2nd Inngs, Obviously well short of what he would have liked to have set the Windies.
IF the Windies happen to fluke the last 50 odd runs and win, it will go down as one the biggest blunders of all time, losing a test after only losing 17 wickets.
Could understand the declaration if Aust were 0 - 1 down or 1 - 1 going into the test to ensure time to win .
My prediction - Aust to win series 2 - 0
My Ratings - Aust 5.5/10 barely a pass. Windies 7/10 Very creditable performance after 1st test flogging.
Ratings based on consideration to their current Test ranking.
BUT, IF the windies were to pull off a miracle win, well, well, well, Ponting may very well be asked to give the job away.
Maybe you can take a break from your Aussies bashing to have a real look at what has happened in this match. It is not the declaration that was woeful, but Australia's second innings. If the West Indies get the runs it doesn't go down as a tactical blunder by the captain but just plain old bad batting.
We aren't as good as we used to be and there a lot of posters on this site that need to get over it. Our test ranking is what, four at the moment so your ratings a bogus.

REB
You mention our woeful 2nd innings
All the more reason to bat longer in the first digs when you have the opposition on the ropes
Best insurance policy I know of

I guess it wasn't "obvious" enough to give the reviewing umpire enough confidence to overturn Bowden.

That is the crux of the rule isn't it - enough evidence to overturn the original decision. Because if Bowden turned it down and the Aussies referred it, there is no way it could have been overturned and given out.

That was one of the most pathetic things I have seen on a cricket field......embarrassing

Exactly, and that is why it is a joke of a system. Third umpires viewing the same incident but making different decisions based on who made the referral. The game could really do without it.

Why change a successful strategy. Even guys who were struggling like the Kat and Watto grow wings when they become a Bluebagger. It is a well known cricket fact.

That's embarrassing ! Is it Ponting doing a similar stance behind the wicket ?
Gayle did very well not to turn around and club him one......
