I don't think that 36ers game is on Fox did you mean Wednesday night's game against Cairns?

Great stage of the season now, its taken all this time for divisions to really emerge:

Top 3 may almost be set: Perth, Gold Coast, Townsville

The final spot between Adelaide and Melbourne. New Zealand can still make it, but their road record is too appalling to contemplate.

It will be a real shame if Wollongong miss the finals after being so gallant throughout, but their hopes have nosedived with McKee's back injury.

While they will be real nuisance value for the rest of the year, particularly at home, Cairns are just too far out of it now on class.

Has been a fantastic season so far though - really, really proved the evenness of NBL with the 8 teams.

I agree CK Perth, Gold Coast & Townsville appear to have locked up the top 3 but you think the 36ers might make it? Their schedule now starts to get difficult and as much as I'd like to see it happen I think we're more likely to finish second bottom. The Breakers too don't appear destined for playoff basketball and I reckon it will come down to either Wollongong or Melbourne for the final playoff spot. Unfortunately I think the Tigers have too much talent to accept where they are and think they'll make a run.

Gotta agree has been a great season and just the thing the NBL needed after such a difficult off-season. The comp has never been more even, crowds are up & TV ratings are up too. It's looking like a Sydney team will be back in next season (probably the Kings) and possibly a Brisbane team if not next season then the year after. Things are on the up.

The 36ers are hosting Cairns tonight and it's live on Fox from 7:30pm.

In other NBL news the Breakers have released John Rillie and signed Kevin Braswell as their second import and forgot to mention local Luke Martin has been signed by the Hawks to fill in for injured import Tywain McKee for the rest of the season.

Strongly suspect tonight will be a dour lockdown. Wouldn't be at all surprised if the game total didn't pass 150. Cairns aren't known for high scoring. They have a promotion at home games that, if they pass 85 points, everyone in the crowd gets a free Macca's cheeseburger. They haven't passed too many burgers out as yet.

If I'm not mistaken, Rillie was the oldest player in the NBL this year.

Good win by the Sixers but can certainly play better. I think you're right CK that Rillie was the oldest player in the league but now that he's gone again without actually knowing who the oldest is my money would be on Tony Ronaldson, I think this is his 21st season and looks like he could still play another year or two.

NZ win 103-89, despite a big second half fightback from Adelaide, who were in the horrors in the first half again.

NZ's Kirk Penney has set a new record for the 40 minute format with 49 points. His nine three-pointers is just outside a spot in the all-time NBL top ten for three pointers in a match (13 is the all-time record, by Ian Davies in 1985. Tenth spot is held by 3 players on ten three-pointers)

That was an incredible performance by Penney but you'd think that is the nail in the 36ers season now.

Unfortunately 36ers import guard John Gilchrist went down with a serious knee injury in that loss to the Tigers and not only will he be out for the rest of this season but it looks like a 12 month job.
