Depending on what you mean by multiple, they have. According to wikipedia there were 9 moon landing between 1969 and the end of 1972.

Even more damning is the fact the Catholic church could sell the bulk of it's assets to end world hunger and homelessness. And we do get days off work/school thanks to them.

Fair point, but a lot of the technology used by NASA over the last 40 years has been developed and has assisted in the development in a lot of the technology we take for granted today such as the internet. We probably wouldn't be the society we are today, technology wise, if it wasn't for the moon landing.
Personally, I'd rather see and end to the monarchy (terrible waste of money) and excessive government spending/duplication (eg 3 tiers of govt in Australia).
