I have heard from a few medical types over the years that the diet recommended for diabetics is probably the best one that everybody could follow so good luck with it all.

I have been taking Metformin on a daily basis since and with a sensible eating plan and a daily walk i've managed to get off 42 kg (I also try and drink 2 litres of water at work) now my three monthly UDL's sit at 5.2...I no longer have the problem with tingling feet either. I remember being told that taking Metformin can help with weight loss as it boosts the metabolism. i also take 100mg of oroxine a day as my thyroid is not overly active. Definite thumbs up for Metformin from meand good luck on your journey MickeyJ

Almost 10% of patients treated with metformin had vitamin B12 deficiency after four years of therapy, compared with fewer than 3% of patients who received a placebo, a study of 390 insulin-dependent type-2 diabetes patients found.

What I quote below does not mean it should not be used, but not all GPs may yet be aware of this recent study that suggests occasional testing for B12 deficiency id desirable - you may need to prompt yours to check it.Almost 10% of patients treated with metformin had vitamin B12 deficiency after four years of therapy, compared with fewer than 3% of patients who received a placebo, a study of 390 insulin-dependent type-2 diabetes patients found.

It is not structurally related to amphetamines and appears to work by some other mechanism - presumably hormonal.Punk Rooster wrote:sounds like these little pills might be amphetamine based...Mickyj wrote:A little update .I started on these pills may 3rd and up till thursday 27th may .
