Re: Cheap International Flights
I found skyscanner.net pretty good. But I rarely booked with them. I'd get their search results, then go direct to the airline and oftem get a better deal.
Expedia served me well while OS. Got some great deals booking exactly 12 weeks in advance (for some reasonn, this seems to be the optimal discount range if a flight is undersold). These were mainly flight & accom deals. If you group them with Expedia, they can do crazy prices at times.
Finally, I found that by doing some research about which companies fly where, you can get good deals direct from the airline.
Patience and flexibility is the key. Gotta be prepared to check daily. Saving a tenner means a beer and a burger at your destination!!!

Re: Cheap International Flights
Was doing some research comparing using an agent for booking flights to piecing together the journey myself.
This is specifically related to getting to SE Asia, but if I was able to book a cheap flight (Virgin, Jetsar) to Melbourne, I could then use Air Asia to get to a destination in SE Asia. If wanted to go to mainland SE Asia, I could fly to Kuala Lumpur and get a dirt cheap flight to any major city (Phuket, Bangkok etc). It works out to be $200-300 cheaper than booking through an agent and using a major carrier. Of course, the only downside is if one of your first flights is cancelled or hugely delayed you could find yourself missing connecting flights and being without a refund.

Yeah thats right, if you have time you could always overnight in KL for a night or two to be safe.. have a bit of a look around there. Air Asia is cheap.. fine to fly with too. had a friend just Air Asiad all the way to the UK with no problems and at all, cost only 850 return - that was a good sale though.

That is brilliant, the dates I have been looking at work out to $925 to get from Melbourne to London return
Whats the best way to find out about the various short time sales like this one that airlines have going on?

Re: Cheap International Flights
I've heard nothing but great things about AirAsia, but remember they are a budget airline so you have to factor in things such as checked luggage, meals, in flight entertainment etc (and you'll need at least two, if not all three for a flight like KL to London). Still even with those extras you're saving about half the cost compared to fliying Malaysian Airlines (who normally are the cheapest of the full service airlines).
The other thing to consider is if you're going to London they fly to Stanstead, not Heathrow.

They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

That's a great idea, i get more than enough emails just from the 3 main domestic airlines about sales, so i couldn't imagine having a whole hep of international airlines emailing me also, having said that though i did just sign up to air Asia after seeing that special, may very well end up booking it yet.

Re: Cheap International Flights
I thought they were on sale today also, was planning to book them tonight at $925, but its now gone up to $1089, which is still very good, so I’m probably still going to book that, but whats the go with Air Asia, is it likely they will be back on sale again in a few weeks, or was that a fairly rare one off type special? Not sure if I should just book them at that price or hold out a few more weeks and try and save a couple hundred dollars.

Re: Cheap International Flights
All booked at $1191, which isn't as cheap as first thought, but still a fair bit cheaper than i have seen anywhere else after casually keeping an eye on prices over the past few months.
Cant wait
