Recruited well.
Rob Jones quit after 2 games went back to Brighton.
Few games later Tregonning followed him.
That is two on-ballers.
Then we lost our back up ruckman Shard to work commitments... played one game.
Then Wadey went down with injury for majority of year.
Brad Smith, Richie Ray-zwar & Mick Townsend injured after few games out for year.
Then Lynchy our CHB quit (also 3rd ruckman). Came back later in year for 3 games then disappeared again.
Then the big one.. the Bilney brothers walked out.
So we lost huge amounts of talent... 2 ruckman, 5 mid-fielders, 3 key position. Nearly all contracted players.
Injuries were a curse this year, but every club gets that, we just had no depth to cover them.
It's a joke this day and age the way guys float around clubs with zero comittment.
If you commit to a club that is it for the year.
So like I said, no problems with Exelby, but he was pushing sh!t uphill all year.
Need to ask the question though WLF, why did all these recruits quit? If they were enjoying their time at Marion should this have happened? Obviously injuries are part of the game and you blokes were definitey hit pretty hard, but guys walking out on the team has to come back to a culture thing doesn't it?
The question has certainly been asked P32.
Culture is a factor.
Getting paid when we are getting flogged I assume makes guys walk away.
Guilt?
Selfishness?
Like not having a personal go at these lads as I got on really well with the Jones, Tregonnings etc, and it says alot about where we are at when a guy would rather play C grade for Brighton than A grade for Marion.
Since I've been there 2002, the number of faces that have come through is amazing.
Players from 2000 premiership left... 0.
Imagine if we had the Brett 'Chippy' Dale, Harrows, Jimmy 'Pumper', Keels RIP, Ravi, Morgan Billings, Steve Coffee, McEntees, Bilneys, Stokesy Reece Hamilton, Lallards I really could go on.
We would probably be in MV shoes.
