Crazyflights.com.au or bestflights.com.au are pretty good - also found that buying the airfares in individual segments (eg buying a one-way from Aust to EU, then another one-way home with a different airline) worked out cheaper for me than getting a return ticket.

Dont know about longer flights but around asia, air asia are unreal. They have mega deals on all year.
