Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
Well now after a long season we get down to the business end. In the womens tonight expect the Irish Rovers to account for the NaFianna girls comfortably and then the top of the table Onkas ladies to get the job done narrowly over the Irish Blues. Should be a good game with the margins between these two teams closing each time they hiy the park. The tactic battle on the whiteboards between the two smartest men in gaelic in Wado and the People Champ TommyG will be a highlight.
On sunday we have the men going at it with now just the two games with no Div2 for some reason. Expect the Saints to roll the NaFianna boys comfortably. The Saints lost the unloseable last week against the Goats after being five points up with 5 to play and with the wind. The Nafianna boys have lost their mojo recently and would need a big effort to turn it around. Maybe a quiet group saturday night on the town Saints style could do the trick. Sainst by 6-10.
For the right to go straight through to the GF we have the Onkas and Goats. Will both teams show all the cards this week or hold something in reserve. Goats have had a win over he Onkas lads and have been very impressive of late. Added Rossco and now Klunny back in the mix and after a couple runs these two will strengthen the Goats mix. Very disciplined group who will try and strangle the fast flowing Onkas. On the other hand the Onkas lads are the damaging attacking side in the comp. They have a number of players who have the abiliy to score unders as well as take the points. Qualified gabe, have the two best Irish guys in the comp as well as a good blend or so called youth and experience. The Onkas boys will still be dirty from recent years after being in the same position but will this extra presssure cause some panic. Onkas have been the best side all year but having seen one of the best games of the season last week I'm tipping the goats in an upset by 1-5

Onkas got up by about a half a dozen over the Goats and Na Fianna moved through to the Prelim with a thrilling 1 point win

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
GAELIC 7,S SEMIS AND GRAND FINAL THIS WEDNESDAY 2ND OF MARCH
6.30pm - 1-ST. Brendans V 4-Angry Leps
Should be a very good game as the LEPRECHAUNS when at full strength have a powerful starting 7 boasting names such CC, Mase, Oz, Moockhummed, Tuna Greenseas, Batman, Showdog and the mighty Quinns. They have one very unfortunate fact working against them...St. Brendans suprise elimination from Hannigan Cup. The Taints will be hungry to ensure season 2010/11 does not end without silverware and the likes of Zues, Millsy, J+J Peg, Killen and Easy Eatson should have the answers in this knockout semi.....St.B 1-5.
7.30pm - 2-Onkas v 3-Steve Irwins Allstars
Onkas have had a rough trot in the last month after being undefeated in the first half of the year but appeared to run into form at the expense of the Rosewater "Magic" Dingos last week. If Onkas get their best 7 on the park and with the bye in State League id suggest they will. Names like WadeOO, StevO, Chewbacca the **** rug, Brynna, J Conlon and the KeyO they should have too much point kicking firepower. You cant help but be impressed by the meteroic rise of the Steves. Led by The Big Rhino, Harry, Curl and Fluff and J Prop an upset is not beyond the realms of possibility. ONKAS experience should get them over the line by 6-10
8.55 - The 2 National Anthems performed by Tony Conlon and Steve Ridley
9pm - GRAND FINAL ? V ? .......I,ll tip ? by 1-5

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
For those on the forum that are fans of 7,s, How about a 7,s team of the year with the pre-requisite of 1 from each team (welcome to my world). They did actually used to give medals for the 7,s team.
Well i,ll get us started...
FWDS; Chris Carey (AL) + ANDY Harris (RD)
Mid ; WadeO (O)+ RyanOYesDarling (SIA)
DEF ; JNeeson (F) + Mavrick Zaluski (ST>B)
G : SH*T i wouldnt have a clue....um did my Dad play goals
but none the less those 7 would have been one medallion richer in previous seasons.....
For those that did not see Andy Harris from RD...He was toothless, fearless and often ready hours before the time required but was un doubtbly one of the things that made social 7,s cool to play. Ill be back next year and once again a few players will be offered oppurtunities to filter into State League and make our comp stronger.
Good fun and Good for the game.....Shotgun R.Darling Taints.

Goats to struggle big time this week alot N/A for the game. Means an old fat never was has to pull the boots on. def 13 aside a again this week with only 13 fit players and 1 very infit over weight hack.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
st brendans over onkas in the gf of the 7's comp by two points in overtime.
very good game to play in both teams hard at it, st brendans probably just wanted it a bit more in the end i think.
congrats to the boys in green and yellow like coach whippedford sais after the game tho we're happy to give you guys the 7's trophy if it means we get to lift the hannigan!!!!!

I concur BFG an epic game of Gaelic7s, easily the most tense and skillful I've been involved in. I would vote Jordan Pegoraro as the winner of the Tyrone Javor medal winner for BOG.
Also Onkas please be advised that the Hannigan Cup will be staying where its been for the last 2 years (on the bar at the sharehouse of the Taints braintrust) until the Gaelic7s Cup is presented to us!

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
Great Game of Gaelic and very tough to Ref as both teams played to win. It took a long time to open up as the score was Onkas 0.10 to ST.B 1.5 at the half and 5.13 a piece at full time. After extra time it was 5.20 to 5.18. Certainly a ripping contest indeed
I agree that Jor Peg was outstanding as was Milush "Polish Bear" Zaluski (could this man be our next President) for the Taints.
Whilst Danny Boy and WadeyO were the driving force behind Onkas.
Thanks to everyone invloved for what was a great season and a lot of fun. See you all Friday.

you're a traitor valleys! you were keen to come out for a kick with onkas earlier this year!!!
i've got my fingers toes and everything else i can think of crossed that we can get up on sunday. although its certain the finns will put up a fight.
if we can curtail jolly's influence in the air and stop their main playmakers getting the ball we could be in with a shot.
onkas by 1-5

Re: Gaelic Football in South Australia
I totally concur with Flinders O'Neills A) its been way too quiet on here in the lead up to the GF and B) you have to tip Onkas as they have lost just the one game all year. But saying that, Onkas finals record is decidedly average (their victory over Western Ireland in the other week's semi being their only finals victory despite finishing top in the last 3 seasons) so the plucky Finns are certainly in with a chance!
I reckon Onkas coach Matt "Chazz" Whippedford will be hoping Onkas blow Na Fianna away early, as the longer Na Fianna can stay in there, the more the odds tip in their favour IMHO, as i cant really recall Onkas winning too many close games in recent years.
Some good "possible" match ups to look forward to as well:
Kenny Fay vs Clint "Snoop" O'Hara - Kenny has been playing the full forward/lone striker role very well in recent weeks, but with Snoop O'Hara being possibly the number 1 shut down defender (whilst pimping ho's doing it) he will certainly struggle for space to work in.
St Nick Jolly vs ???? maybe Pedler and/or Boof - not sure who Onkas will put on St Nick, possibly their new big fella Boof. I expect Jolly would win this contest, as altho he generally looks like he is about to die after 5 minutes of running, he is a hellova lot fitter than he looks, and has been unstoppable in the air in recent weeks. Is he still growing???
??? vs Irish Danny O'Grady - Na Fianna pride themselves on their miserly defence, really not sure who they will get to go with Irish Danny, who IMHO when at his best is near impossible to defend without fouling/poleaxing. Maybe Milko bryant, Matty Hill, or Bruno Rocca?
Gav O'Reilly vs Wadey Saunders - will either man up on the other, or will it be a midfield shootout?
??? vs Gabe Phillips - Whilst Gabe has only recently returned from injury, from I've seen he is moving as good as ever and will still need to be treated with respect.
Should be a cracker day down at Gaelic HQ! Good luck getting me off the free bouncy castle... CTs tip: Onkas to finally deliver on their last 3 years of supremacy, and clinch the Hannigan by 6-10.
