It does not mean two shits about the standard or comparing the leagues. A trial is for sorting out game plans and seeing new players.

The bloke was just asking for a comparison, not a definition of a trial match, Maybe if you know and he doesn't you can just tell him where the skill level of Willaston might compare to the SAAFL

They played very predictable football for mine with all there movement going through there big blonde FF who at times had 2 or 3 to beat. Willaston was lucky to win Kilburn just run out of legs. Kilburn were the better side all night and in my views got the raw end of the stick from the blokes in white. The game wasn't played in great spirits with quite a few scuffles breaking out throught the match. Willaston'S CHF with tatoo's everywhere got sent off for something behind the play in which i have to say didn't look good, Not sure there was any reports but i found it very amusing players from BOTH SIDES even bothered with the carry on in a trial game. I understand that it is near on impossibe to judge the standard difference between the leagues but surely the BLG is a better standard than a div 4 SAAFL. I would be interested in anyone's views on where they think the BLG rates in standard compared to the SAAFL.

Willaston has a lot of new players and a new coach with new ideas, these hit outs before round 1 are only going to see what will or will not work come playing for premiership points. what ever negative patterns come out of trials can at least be fixed before the season kicks off. give it time and willaston will prove to alot of doubters wrong come the home run into the finals. not a lot of players in the squad on friday night played in the blue and red in 2010. coach Irving's style of footy will win games

I would say the top BLG teams would handle themselves well in Div 1...Reckon if Tanunda went and played Div 1 they would give the title a fair shake (if not win it) with the players they have on the park...

Look at former BLG players who play in the SAAFL...e.g Scott Leal he won the Div 1 A Grade Mail Medal equivalent even tho he was a good BLG player, he never made an impact on the Schluter

Hope this can stop the Bickering between you 2

Def many players in the BLG that would dominate div 1 footy, kennedy, agars, wells, commane, stelzer twins, greenwood, s baker would all be a key player in any div 1 side.
Tanundas side of the last three years against Goodwood saints side that won 4 flags straight would be a game id like to see, having tanunda win in a close one.

Comparing A1 to BLG
I have played in both
BLG is A2 standard
Its different football, A1 players are bigger, fitter and the game is faster
Tanunda would finish outside top 5, and Barossa's 2 premiership sides would have finished there also
A2 yes i agree both would have been Grand Finalists
Players as mentioned above would be great A1 footballers, eg Last year Turner, Leal A1 medal winners
BLG is a great standard of football, but dont get carried away, A1 is the best outside SANFL

agree with you mate played in both and div 1 is far better comp. Tanunda would play finals in div 1 maybe a qualifying final. Thats as far as they would get. Div 1 is better than SANFL res as far as im concerned

In no way questioning the ability of players mentioned above that play up there in the BLG, i agree though the standard is of Div 2. The depth in the team is more the issue, Div 1 teams have good depth in most positions, from games i have seen over the last couple of years, the BLG has some players on the ground that wouldn't make a Div 1 team. I think that is where the differnce lies.

I think 1 of the mcleans played in our league last year. Only a little fella. Soft as butter. Without knowing the bakers I would bet on them winning by a 2nd round knockout.

Definatley agree with that call AKA, SANFL reserves these days has virtually turned into an under 21 comp. Due to the big money in country footy, we no longer see those older fringe league players hanging around in hope they get the odd league game, in some ways its disappointing. Some of the reserves games I have seen have been very ordinary indeed, however the top 2s sides can also be very impressive.

Have just seen the new shorts and sock for this year through the new supplier and must say they look very professional. Much better than all the odds and end shorts people wore last year.
