I'm off to my first trip to Hobart in June (Queens Birthday long weekend) for a mates wedding. As I no longer have the Friday of the weekend off (a small price to pay for my new role), it'll pretty much be a one night trip (I'll probably spend Friday night at the Formulae 1 Melbourne Airport and I'm heading back to Melbourne on Sunday to catch Rock of Ages).
Does anyone know any decent hotels to stay in Hobart. Just looking at staying in the CBD as the ceremony is in Bellerive (not the oval though lol) and the reception is in Lindisfarne so will be getting a hire car to get around for the day.

Re: Good Hotels in Hobart
Already done that - was mainly seeing if anyone can recommend a decent place. Most of the hotels are pretty cheap anyway which is good (seeing as flights are pretty expensive to get there).

Somerset on the Pier would be the best for Location.
But for one night either the Grand Chancellor or the Old Woolstore are central to the docks and very good value for money.

I stayed at the Quest Waterfront Apartments when over there. Great location and no complaints about the accommodation!

Have a feed at the Drunken Admiral dockside. In fact, if you can bring me a tub of their seafood chowder I'll be your slave for a week

Re: Good Hotels in Hobart
Should have mentioned that I canned the trip because the costs were ridiculous (was looking at about $800 for what would have ultimately been 24 hours in Hobart). Now the focus is on Gold Coast, which will be cheaper and a longer trip.
Given the volcanic ash chaos, now appears to be a good decision.

Yes, you are right ZZ it is to die for, but everyone note they are not open for Lunch.
We would go through there for the Chowder then go to another place for our main meal.
