The only reason I can think why the Amateur League would approve this is maybe his clearance was still pending, however if not you can't have someone from another league using a premiership point round in our league as a trial game as their league hasn't started yet.
If I was involved at Woody South I'd be seeking a please explain from the SAAFL

where is he actually playing mate?

I can't believe no-one has mentioned what an absolute crock of sh!t this is, This bloke has signed to play in another league but is allowed to play 1 game for his old club for whatever reason :-?? It was obvious that he was the difference between the 2 sides and later down the track this could affect ladder positions. I'm sure Woody South wouldn't be too happy if they were to miss out on a double chance or even the finals by a couple of goals worth of percentage, which this guy contributed to

Maybe all the clubs who have ex players playing in the mining leagues should get permits to play for when they're back in town.
IMO poor form by both Luthies and more importantly the SAAFL.

I wondered what the ruling was with this guy playing??
We had a former B&F winner who now works in the mines watching our game on the weekend.............he would have been more than handy if he could have played??
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

when coaching at a previous club we played players from kangaroo island
they trained with us during the year even tho they played in another league
we got permits for them which have to be signed by their club
you can get permits at any stage during the year except finials
i believe as long as yu are not disadvantaging your own players in any way its alright
can someone tell me whats the difference between this case or when stuart dew played for salsibury or when the roo played enough games to qualify for finals
by the way, they didnt effect the outcome of the games
we stand as one
we fight as one
we win and lose as one
we are one

haha you would be surprised the number of players that do it. i played in a team where they got a former mail medalist of the league to come back and play in a centanary game. Roo and mods did it for the waikerie and renmark few yrs back akermanis is playing for 3 different clubs this yr. and it is irrelevant that those above mentioned are former afl players. and he wasnt the difference between the two sides. woody south got smashed out the middle. our defence played a great game. im sure woody south would agree in sayin that he was not the difference between the two sides!

If he got cleared for 1 week would this make any difference?? It's no different to an SANFL player getting dropped to the SAAFL once or twice a year for guest appearances because of the bye ect.....Lutherans obviously have built a solid relationship with the bloke over time and he feels happy to play for them when available. Good on them and good on him!!

Lets be honest here woodville south werent playing to the best of their ability on saturday and did get killed out of the middle. I believe however that Miegel did have a big impact on the game as im sure he kicked goals at crucial times during the game which turned the momentum. I think its a joke that this guy was allowed to come back and play just one game when he is in another league. The roo and mods game was something that both teams agreed too and was only due to it being an anniversary game. Also, to players in the B grade at adelaide lutheran i wouldnt think this will make them feel to happy either..

Just my opinions

Very Very dirty Catch, all that can be said about that!

It has been going on in the SAAFL for years. You can do it until 30 June i believe.
There is a club that has an agreement in place for players to join it in late May and play for the rest of the year.
They currently play in different leagues.Isn't this the same thing.Everyone has the ability to change their side until 30th June

16.4.1 A player who:
16.4.1.1 Has been registered to play football with an Affiliated League Club (“the Home Club”); and
16.4.1.2 Has transferred his employment to a place which is more than 150 kilometres from the home ground of his Home Club (“the new place of employment”); and
16.4.1.3 Has, with the approval of his Home Club, obtained a Clearance to play football for an Affiliated League Club situated in the vicinity of his new place of employment; and
16.4.1.4 Because of the conditions of his employment is able to return to or near his place of residence (“Original Residence”) when he played for his Home Club;

may subject to Regulations 16.4.2, 16.4.3 and 16.6 be granted a permit, to play football for his Home Club by the Affiliated League of which his Home Club is a member.

16.4.2 A permit issued under this Regulation 16.4 will be limited to the period or periods of time when the player is able to return to his Original Residence because of the conditions of his employment.
16.4.3 The approval of an application for a permit under Regulation 16.4.1 is subject to the approval of the Affiliated League Club and the Affiliated League with which the player is currently registered to play football.

If I didnt read this in the SACFL guidelines I would have thought Lutheran wrote this specifically for their bloke.

Agreed you have to get the ball to him, but didn't he kick 8.6 in a 63-point win? Take his 54 points away from the toal margin and its a much closer game!! Others might have contributed to the scoreboard if he didn't play and the supply was there, but then again they might not have...

...having said all that, if it's within the rules - play on!

Whats the go at North Haven. Just spoke to a few of the lads and Shaun Hinsley and Damo McCulloch are heading back to Portland. Damo has a new gig with his work and wants to play higher with his mates and Shaun is following him back like a lost sheep.

All the clubs effected by blokes working and playing up north should have a read of this then, staggering rules.

Interesting, first I've heard of this. From what I know both Shaun and Damo seemed to be pretty happy at NH and were happy to have them, they've been outstanding for us so far this season. Where did you get your info from Davo?

Sanfl players can only play for their amateur clubs when they have the bye if they didn't play the week preceding the bye.

Or if they're omitted, happens to younger players at SANFL clubs all the time.

Hypothetically, What happens if you have a player who is a gun (which obviously Rowan is) playing at one club in one league going to play for a different club in a different league in a crucial match that could determine which of the respected teams plays finals football and then that player, who could possibly be the best footballer on the ground on that particular day proves the difference between the two sides kicking 10 goals and/or picking up 40 disposals and then being judged best on ground? Would that be very fair on the opposition?

I know that you have to take the opposition as they come and who they have playing for them is who they have but I don't think it's fair for a player to come and play one game for a club and prove what quite possibly is the difference between the two sides and then therefore the team they're playing for ends up being the winner and goes onto playing finals football.

moving from a country league to saafl for one or two games is no different than going from sanfl to saafl.. running into a team in a lower division who happen to have sanfl guys popping in for odd games has happened to all of us i would suggest, and we have all said good luck to them and moved on, thats footy and its legal..to get 8.6 there must have been a fair bit of ball down forward in the alfc match..im sure even the second best alfc forward could have gotten 4 goals if he had miegels opportunities ?? yes? they still win..
