Who won the "norm smith" yesterday - I had to head off before the presentations. Very impressed with Dawsons game, he does a lot of hard work when he doesnt have the ball, lots of small team things as well, many resulted in balak goals.

Well deserved, as well as the 4 or 5 that he kicked, his forward pressure would have easily accounted for that many team goals.

Some things will never change, virginia kick the first goal in the last, gives them a chance, same player few minutes later has a brain fade and is sent off. Virginia doesn't give a yelp after that, phillips must be tearing his hair out at that point.

Well done balak, best team all season.

I thought Catford was BOG had plenty of the ball and kicked 4. Interesting to see that of the people who won the BOG trophies none of them were named best by their club. I wasnt their for 14's so not sure who won that but I was surprised by the 17's, B grade and A grade winners.

Virginia were too sloppy, dropped too many marks, blazed away when entering the forward 50, Balak's were far more polished and I thought the final scoreline flattered Virginia.
Dawson is a gun, it was a bit pointless putting an injured running player on him in the last, needed to stem the flow to Dawson and create some run off half back, didn't happen, Balak's had players dropping back in the hole to stop Nicklaus getting easy marks at close range.

Great day, well supported and well catered for, I got to the bbq too late for the ribs but had a kransky for $3 which was superb.

Rumor has it Virginia took injured players into the game. James had a hamstring injury. Once Virginia went 4 goals up I though they would run away with it but they didnt really give a yelp after that.

I think Johnstone wasn't 100 per cent either, by the way he was stretching every couple of minutes.

Fantastic day for the Peckers on Saturday taking home the A's and B's.

Also well done to Two Wells and Mallala in the colts grades, they were simply too good for the Junior Peckers.

Virginia were well in contention in both senior grades leading both matches early before imploding in the 2's giving away free kick after free kick as well as 25 and 50 metre penalties for high hits, back chat and behind the play incidents. The A's was a tight match until after half time when the pressure, fresher legs and higher onball rotations of Balaklava pushed away for a comfortable win.

Well done to Niklaus for his 100 goals for the year, how much did that cost the Rams in $$$ per goal?

Pains me to say it but well done to Balak! Probably the best side all year and definately the best side when it counted.

Even though Virginia catered better than I thought catering was still pretty average I felt. Should have been a beer and food tent around the other side of the oval. Ran out of Super Dry and Johnnie Walker about 1/2 time of the A's, pies, pasties, ribs etc all ran out before 1/2 time and even before that I got served a pasty that was literally refridgerator cold.

League might have missed out on a reasonable amount of gate money too, with all the fence hoppers that I saw. Surely its not that hard jsut to pay your ten bucks!

I agree with the beer tent. We were set up on the other side of the ground and had to walk around whenever we needed a drink. They should of put one of those drink carts on the other side I didnt see the point having a beer cart on either side the clubrooms. Club should take a leaf out of Longies book when it come to catering for the GF they have had the best set-up imo for the day.

I'm pretty sure the bingo machine in the Dublin hotel
provided Burgoynes match payments. $50 in, $9 back. What a return on investment! Ack!
