I think its a disgraceful idea. If a kid isn't ready to deal with the physicality of A grade footy then it is irresponsible of the coach and the club to be playing them. There has never been an issue of opposition players targeting young underage players. If players have to think twice before laying a tackle, bump or block on an oppostion player because he might hurt them, what are we coming to.

As for the incident on Saturday, norm11 if your coach is instructing the young fella who was playing half back flank to constantly niggle his more senior opponent, well expect some treatment of a similar kind back. If he can't cop it then dont give it out. What happened to the lad? Don't tell me he came out of his first A grade game a bit bruised and sore....god forbid. The behaviour of Hamleys president was slightly cringe worthy.

PS Pontty does have a BAD reputation as a hitman.

Well if that rule comes in, I for one would be tellling the lad/lads NOT to wear the armband. May as well put a target on them!

What a stupid idea, who has come up with this classic? Same numnut that brought in the mercy rule for underage I expect.

I suppose we haven't had a ridiculous rule for a few seasons - suppose it's due

I think it has a place in the juniors, it's fair game once you start playing seniors though IMO.

Ok it appears I've been shot down here and should have thought more about it. But if ur saying its ok to hit people off the play ever time u get niggled at then there would be a lot of off the ball incidents.
But I do have to prob rethink the red arm band thing :D Probably not the best idea.
Back to the creek it is.

BTW, I was so close to collecting big on Ilsede, which was running at Balaklava yesterday. Got the tip from Dan Griffiths, who has connections to it I think?

Paying $12 on the tote and was beaten by a friggin head-bob. Ack!

Who would want to keep rocking up in their teams forward pocket week after week and loose by 30 odd goals and touch the ball 3 times or for the dominating sides sit in the backlines and win by 30 and touch it a few times

That makes sense, but if you talk to the kids that have to swap teams each week they don't want to do it. Their reasons are that they train with the club and their mates each week, why should they have to play half a game with people they don't know or necessarily like just to keep the scores even. They would much rather still play with their mates. Isn't that what footy is all about?

They're playing at least half a game with their mates though.
I remember playing in a team that was pounded by 25 goals every week. It was good to occasionally get the good players from the other team on your side, kicking a few goals etc.

Made the game more enjoyable. They have senior footy to play with their "mates". Development should take precedence.

Watched HWE junior, Tate Nottle, go through a game barely getting a kick in the senior colts on Saturday.

Then Balak switched a few players over, Tate played for the Peckers and had a sensational last quarter. The Balak lads looked to kick it to him and everything.

And then one of the Cunningham brothers was on the HWE team, so they were playing on each other. One of the most uncoordinated fights I have ever seen broke out.

I understand that but my opinion is based on not only watching the games, but also listening to the coaches speak to the kids each week. As soon as the "Fair play rule" has come in the first question the coach asks is for volunteers to go and play for the opposition side. I have only ever once seen someone volunteer, so the coach has to pick 3 kids to go to the other team and their reaction is exactly like this emoticon  :( . This is where I form my opinion from and this is from teams who are getting pumped.

I understand that not every one will agree with the rule, some like it some don't (like me), just putting my perspective forward as I beleive I have a pretty good understanding of our junior grades.

Must be a fair buzz around the water tower atm with the juniors, under 14's in the 4, slight mention of the "f" word, fantastic effort.

They've had a good start to the year, but the only "f" word being used is "fair play". ;)

if thats happening why not just swap the forwards with the backs? We used to do that back in the day.
