I think its a disgraceful idea. If a kid isn't ready to deal with the physicality of A grade footy then it is irresponsible of the coach and the club to be playing them. There has never been an issue of opposition players targeting young underage players. If players have to think twice before laying a tackle, bump or block on an oppostion player because he might hurt them, what are we coming to.
As for the incident on Saturday, norm11 if your coach is instructing the young fella who was playing half back flank to constantly niggle his more senior opponent, well expect some treatment of a similar kind back. If he can't cop it then dont give it out. What happened to the lad? Don't tell me he came out of his first A grade game a bit bruised and sore....god forbid. The behaviour of Hamleys president was slightly cringe worthy.
PS Pontty does have a BAD reputation as a hitman.
