I'd love to hear the reasons from an APFL board member as to why Mills and Banton from United were suspended for todays matches while Light, Cicolella, Herberle, Feast, Featherstone-alphabet all of whom made themselves unavailable last week were free to play. Somehow I think it would be quite amusing. Not that it really matters cos they all played in loosing teams today........... and United won :D .

Heberle was suspended apparently. Hamley played him anyway!

Should be an interesting fallout from this.

I would say the fit is about to hit the shan!

Is it 100% he was suspended?

If it is true that he tried to train and got suspended anyway, good on Hamley for sticking it up the league.

It was a hot topic of discussion amongst a few and a league board member last night but can't confirm based on that.

That is one train of thought but on the other hand, if this is the case, expect a hefty penalty.
There was mention of stripping the club of hosting its final this year.
That would be huge I imagine

Is there no system in place where the clubs can over rule the league's silly decision. Sounds like all the clubs need to go into bat for Hamley.

This is going to get very interesting - I have no doubt the league thinks they can strip the game off Hamley - but can they under the constitution as it currently stands?

HB will have a fair battle on its hands without Heberle. Plenty of depth at Mallala

Thach to turn it on big time, his mate Hanson will give him the support and kick a bag. The Mallala depth must surely be getting tested, they were semi depleted against Virginia and capitalized on the Rams' poor disposal.

Pretty spot on there LM. Easily top 2 players
These 2 were awesome yesterday. Thach continued his great year and busted his chops all day yesterday to supply our forwards with numerous shots on goal. Hanson played onball for the first 3 quarters and did some great work in and under for a big guy and then went forward in the last and kicked 2. Our goalkicking was dreadful. Missing shots from directly in front. That 3rd quarter was always going to prove costly. Everyone switched off and from memory Hamley were held goalless whilst Mallala piled a few on and in the end the margin was too big to reel in.
Boys are starting to gel but 2-3 good quarters or honourable losses don't cut it. Everyone watching can see the improvement but we would love to see the guys get some wins on the board.
On Heberle, that was as big as a surprise for me when I arrived up and saw him warming up on the ground. I think the club has a date with the tribunal this week to challenge his suspension and decided to let Hebs play before they got a chance to appeal it. Im not sure if my source is 100% reliable though as is was drunken bar jibarish

The problem is the constitution was completely ignored by playing Heberle.
I believe HB had its reasons but gee whiz, it's a ballsy stand to take considering what the fallout could be.

Having a right to appeal a decision is important to clubs - on the outside and not knowing anything about the situation other than what has appeared on here, the constitution appears to have been breached by the league when there were no grounds for suspending Heberle.

Very interesting ..... very ballsy .....

Stupid from Hamley to do this IMO, could possibly loose a final for all the grades that can make the final for one player! Not to mention the financial gain from hosting a final.. They are no orphan by being shafted by this rule But I just think they have gone the wrong way about it

Perhaps they were given a week's exemption, where have you heard that they could lose the right to host a final? I thought they were set in concrete already?

Gonna be very interesting. I'm not sure who was suspended from other clubs in the end, just know that Mills and Banton definately were. Mills wouldn't have played yesterday anyway, and will struggle to play this week, and as for the big Will, well fair enought that he cops his week off.

If Herberle was suspended (or made unavailable to play) by the board, then you have to ask what Hamley are trying to acheive by playing him. I mean we can all disagree with the rule, and there have been instances in past years where we've all agreed a player has been treated harshly, but the board is put in place as a ruling authority of our league, and its decisions must be complied with. There are proper ways and channels to dispute a decision but this isn't the right way IMO. If what we read on here is true, then the board should come down extremely hard on them, as who's to say what Hamley will do the next time they disagree with the boards decision.

Heberle was made unavailable. Meeting Wednesday night regarding this.

It's not pretty.

Can see both sides of the coin here, because in essence, Heberle was not unavailable to play association, therefore no suspension should have applied in the first place - from a HB point of view that is.

This can go two ways:

1) HB gets a hefty penalty, it will be the last straw for Newton Lines and he will resign from the presidency.

2) League backs down, HB gets a small reprimand of some sort.

I don't like the odds of the second option but IMO, it's probably the preferable one in the grand scheme of things.

Craig Taylor got sent off and reported Satruday, so his absence should free up a bit of $$$ to pay the fine

Virginia's Caleb Howell heading off to bask in the sunshine in QLD. Huge blow for Virginia.

Yes, huge, they would've been pretty happy getting Johnston back, fair kick in the nuts to just break even.
