That's where I was headed... It's always reassuring when the second opinion matches your own.

I reckon you're bang on with the second part as well! Birthday boy wouldn't give a shit.

Most glass places will cut them for you.
You may need to shop around to get a reasonable price though.

It's a myth that the smart kids are funny looking weedy nerds...

None of the really smart kids at my secondary school wore glasses at all, and they played sport.
One, who later became a Prof of Pure Maths at UQ, was also school Cricket captain.
Another, who became a Geostatistician at Adelaide Uni, captained the Hockey team.
(Both are also about 180 cm tall and were reasonably good looking young men.)

My entire high school harbouring over 2000 kids must have been an exception. ;)
The group I described was the A stream, the "jocks" were in the B stream and the nerdy kids were in C & D.
By the time you got to the E stream you were no longer sure they were human, though a few of them were good at baseball, and lighting fires...

The school administration was unimaginative.
They ran an OTIS IQ test on the intake and then streamed the classes ABC etc. without thinking to disguise the obvious.
(As I later confirmed when I got into the records while helping out in the office post year 11 exams.)

Acute alcohol withdrawal can take up to 4 or 5 days.
Secondary withdrawal (if it occurs) tends to peak around days 11 to 14 since the last drink.
There is usually a gap of several days between the two withdrawal phases.

The secondary phase is the stage at which most of those who vow to "never drink again" go back to it.
(If betting on when in a pool I'd put my money on day 11.)
