Louisville Slugger – interesting choice of board name, given your tendency to “shoulder arms” every now & then…

It’s fair to say that with your significant contribution of 6 posts in around 2 ½ years – I don’t look forward or out for your posts!

So you have a few board aliases…… meh – whatever!

Lofty played finals in the late 90's so not over 20 years since their last finals appearance.

Nairne remain undefeated after getting over the Creeks today.
Resuming at 5/35 chasing 178, Nairne slumped to 7/52 b4 Harrowfield who benefitted from 2 straight forward dropped catches and Berkett took the score to 120 odd b4 Berkett was dismissed. Tait strode to the crease and immediately made his intentions clear by hitting long and straight depite fielders stationed on the boundary. He should've been caught with about 20 to get but but another catching blunder saw the ball dropped for another boundry. Tait finally holed out on the 3rd man boundry with about 10 to get. harrowfield then managed to shield their No.11 from facing a ball whilst knocking off the runs needed. Nairne all out 187.

As they say Jackpot Jim "catches win matches", wouldv'e been good odds on the Creek winning this one.

Totally agree with that. For every catch a team drops, it's effectively 1 extra wicket that needs to be taken. Simply cant afford to give Nairne with such depth in their batting as they have 14 wickets to reel in 178. We paid the price. :(
The disappointing thing is that we bowled very well early on to create the chances given and could have just as easily have bowled Nairne out for 87 instead of 187. The 1/2 dozen players the Creeks have lost from last year hasn't affected their batting or bowling ability too much but has certainly had an impact on their fielding ability which proved costly yesterday.

Does anyone know if the R8 1 dayers in A&EHCA tomorrow are 45 overs per side or 40? I thought i read somewhere early in the season that they were going to trial some 45 over games around the middle of the season?

R8 tips.

Creeks v Ashbourne. TIP - Creeks with little confidence. Have been tipping Ashbourne all year and they have yet to salute once  Nairne just recently Annihalated Ashbourne whilst last week the Creeks barring a dropped catch would probably have crushed Nairne. Those reults mean little now. Roberts and Baker for Ash will feel at home at the Creek tomorrow having played there the last 3 Sundays in the U/21s.

Nairne v Strath TIP - Nairne. They had a wake up call last match against the Creeks and being back into 1 day mode that suits their style of batting better, they should be too good for an improved Strath who struggle for consistency.

Wistow v Woodside. Tip - Woodside to bounce back after a surprise loss to Strath. Wistow have done fantastically well this year but i feel they dont have the class to match it with the top 2 sides.

Lobethal v Hahndorf. Tip - Toss of the coin this one. Crucial game for both sides, Lobey are gone imo if they lose this whilst Hahndorf need a win to keep Strath at arms length.

You got one tip wrong "jackpot" strath a grade got the win at nairne. Nairne making a small total of 150 odd, gave strath a good chance for a win with tait out with a side strain. Nairnes bowling lacking there normal fire power. In saying that they had strath 3 for under 20. It was Luke cousins hitting 70 odd no who got strath over the line. Strath needing 10 runs with one wicket left and four overs just snuck home.
Witnessed an unbelievable game in the a2 match strath v Maccy at strath. Curator Cousy finally mowed a heap of grass off the wicket which made it a batting paradise. Straths openers captain Harding and Barbary made 119 and 107, 227 run opening partnership for an end total of 2/242. Maccy were in trouble at 5/86 after 20 overs but big slogger Ben mathews made a game of it hitting 11 sixes for a great score of 139. Maccy needed 84 off the last ten overs. The last over they needed 16 then 6 off the last ball which nearly eventuated with Matthews getting caught at cow corner would have gone for six. A2 comp a real tight comp at moment made even tighter with barker and calli dropping down. A&eh a great comp to be a part of. Any other scores? Heard woodside smashed wistow.

Not really surprised at all with Strath beating Nairne in a close one. Nairne are certainly not as good as some would have us believe. That sounds like one hell of a game in the A2s at Strath.
Have noticed there has been a lot of BIG scores in the lower grades this season, more so in the Bs Cs and Ds.
Where are all the bowlers in these grades?
