im with you westy, I was of the understanding that Willaston had most players in, possibly 4 at most out. United a couple down. Unsure of who exactly from either side.
As has been mentioned before, Trials are not really a true gauge.
Feedback from SGFC vs MFC was that Mallala was a lot fitter then SG, with a considerably higher foot and hand schools; mind you that was from Mallala supporters.
Mallala were cleaner, the wind was very strong and was a typical Mallala wind which they are accustomed to, my sources told me that South Gawler haven't faired too well as far as recruitment and Mallala were without 9 A grade starters including Parish and 2 x Montgomery.
Mallala had 4 giants that were taller than the tallest South Gawler player and their smaller players ran hard all day and didn't waste opportunities in front of goals like their opponents did.
Joel Montgomerie was outstanding as was their CHF.
Like I said before, Mallala did have the wind 2 out of 3 thirds so it was easier going for them, it was blowing a gale and very difficult to go forward and then 2 dobs the other way it was back deep in defence.
