I dont disgree with what Norwood are doing... as a couple days break isnt good enough. Im still sore until Thursday after a game in Div 8... so cant imagine how some SANFL guys pull up.
I wish it had all been kept quiet though.... and Norwood just fielded the side they wanted. I doubt anyone in the media would have notice and supporters wont care.
The story comes accross like Norwood have just worked this worked out despite the fixturtes being set for a few months and have cracked the sh*ts.
It is a tad ironic that SANFL clubs treat the Foxtel Cup like the VFL clubs treated the NFL.
Agree with Bassett as well if they were promised one thing and delivered another. But what he's doing is really no different to how sides in England treat a midweek League Cup game or even FA Cup game .. It takes an extra toll on players and sides are picked accordingly.
However, I do chuckle at the attitude these days to a Tuesday night game compared with the 70s and 80s when Escort Cup games were the norm. Players may not have run quite as far then from an aerobic point of view but they were hit just as hard and usually higher. But it was just accepted back in those days that sometimes, you had to play three games in a week.
To be fair on the media ban thing (which was for 1 day & I thought was very poor from the Redlegs) this was a blog targeted to the Norwood members (which then was public within in about 30 seconds).
There is no quote in this Advertiser piece outside of that blog.
going to be a cracking standard of footy in front of 320 people
Not to mention the fact that the only seating available is in the Members area. Meaning that there will be no-one on the Eastern wing. Real good TV eh?
Its free entry for members aswell ive been told. So how many will actually be paying to watch this game? Is it even worth opening the bars or canteens?

They should offer free beer and food for those who go!

His suspension has made him ineligible for this game according to the SANFL, even though it can't count as 1 of his suspended games
I think there is an understanding that all competitions recognise suspensions until the suspension is over. I.e. like how someone who gets suspended in the AFL has to sit out Sanfl games until the suspension is over.
