Like all Google ads, is uses your browsing history to show you something that would hopefully be more targeted than a random ad.

I ment the new ads down the bottom of the pages, I wasn't sure if every ad for every different company being advertised required approval from those companies or not. Was just curious

Lol, companies dont get free advertising they dont approve, not only do they approve of it they pay big bucks for it mate.

We aren't just choosing random companies and making ads for them - they pay Google to get their ads shown.
