Re: AFL Reserves Discussion...

Post by on the rails »

Word is that the AFL are not happy with the SANFL agreeing to allowing Port a "academy" / development team as part of the agreed change to allow the Power Reserves into the League comp. Apparently that model goes against the AFL directive and ethos re development of "grass roots" football and the draft system set up to support AFL Teams. The AFL may well force a change to that model by the time 2015 comes around is also the word. At least 2 SANFL clubs were very opposed also and the Crows are also confused as to why it was allowed as they have no interest in Academy teams or zones etc.
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

Isn't the "Academy" just a fancy word for a reserves side ?

In which case is it anything different to the Freo/West Coast model ?

True enough but that doesn't seem to be working either and that will only get messier next season when all aligned Freo and Weagles players are moved.

They have looked at it but it serves no purpose developing players that you cannot retain and that is the key factor. What they want and what the AFL decide are two seperate things!

I see it as a neater solution than the Crows model.

Basically a constant group of top-up players to choose from, as opposed to begging and borrowing from SANFL clubs.... but maybe thats just me.

The quicker the AFL introduces a reserves competition the better for all State Leagues IMO.

Unfortunately I think the only way this will happen is if the AFL Players association push hard for it or when a new CEO takes over the AFL. (If that ever happens)

I heard Leigh Whicker was approached but he didn't want to take the pay cut. :)

Those "words" wouldn't be coming from those voices in your head would they OTR?

Demetriou has repeatedly maintained no interest in how the PAFC structures itself.

Rather than force the Adelaide Parasites to embrace a junior structure as a condition of joining the $ANFL, only in South Australia would the diminishing of grass-roots commitment and dismantling of a Founding entity be considered the way forward.

They'd be angry, angry voices. :D

8 clubs rubbing their hands together at getting 1/8th of 1/9th of the current zoning structure. Couple that with the mighty sum of $50,000 per annum and it truly does look to good an offer to refuse.

Believe what you want Booney but if we took a poll on here as to who is more delusional between you and I, guess who would win.

Delusional? Which bit of my last post was delusional?

Clubs will get a slice of the Magpies zones, clubs will get (+/-) $50k per annum, clubs did see it as an offer too good to refuse.

Not that Post but your inference re what I posted was that I was delusional or suffering from some mental imbalance! You would be "gobsmacked" if I named my source re what I was told this morning - you might find it is closer to home than you think - home being Alberton!

Have you read some of the crap you, Beenreal and other Port diehards have posted over the journey of this whole 1 club stuff, AFL Reserves etc? Albeit some of it was "wishful" thinking but most of it was plain biased rubbish and typical of your club's selfish attitude for decades and heightened since 1990 when you tried to screw the SANFL. Part of that is now coming back to haunt you finally with the death of the Magpies. Now that is fact!

Anything posted on $A Footy that doesn't maintain the status quo from 1970 is considered delusional Booney.

Now, now. Settle down, put your !!! back on the key board. (Have you had to replace the 1/! key often?)

Well it's either be selfish and aim to be the best or float along while winning a premiership every 20 odd years and wishing it was still 1972!!!!!!

Apples and oranges we're not a developing market/state.

So does NT Thunder

They are linked to the U/16 and U18 programs.

AFL part funds different acadamy models in VIC, WA and SA.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If you think that's why some clubs voted yes then you are being delusional or just ignorant booney.
