Re: Good Movies
just watched Wolf of Wall Street
I had heard a review on it Friday morning on 5aa from Richard from the Movie pages and he completely bagged the shit out of it, complaining it went too long and it glorified his life etc.....
I didn't realise that it was based on his Belforts biography.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, I didn't think it went too long
perhaps more of an FBI presence to add more substance, but who can complain given the ample flesh on display!!

Re: Good Movies
Prisoners
It has Jake Gyllenhall and Hugh Jackman. We got an hour and a half in last night and had to go to sleep, but so keen to finish it when I get home. I dont usually get sucked into movies, but this one is great.

You definitely watched the best part. The plot loses it's way towards the end, but I won't say too much more

It was supposed to be longer but they cut a lot out to make it easier to watch

Finished it last night. I see what you mean about the plot. It kinda felt like they were trying to make everything a twist, and there were too many in the end. Still enjoyed it. Hugh Jackman can actually act.

Good Movies
I really enjoyed the first half of it, but without giving it away it felt like the ending of a scooby doo tv show.
There is also a very small scene that gives away the ending, maybe that's why it felt a bit flat for me

Re: Good Movies
yeah Prisoner wasn't the climactic ending I was expecting when I went into the movie and like you benny, I came out of it a bit flat and disappointed

Re: Good Movies
watching the back to the future trilogy again... still love them after all this time... However, since i'm alot older now, there is so many unanswered questions... at the end of part 2 there was 3 doc browns, one in 1985, 1955 and 1885.... Plus 2 marty mcfly's 1985 and 1955... And how does Marty's parents not recognise him at the end of part 1... He was a massive part of those 2 getting together... i reckon they'd remember someone that important...
another example how they must remember him, his dad, marty pushed him away from a moving car. saved his life... Marty's mum had massive crush on him and wanted to take him to the enchanted ball, and also don't forget she did kiss him and thought it was weird... HOW CAN YOU FORGET THAT!!!???
Regardless, awesome set of films...

Re: Good Movies
Surely his dad would wonder why he looks so much like a guy his Mrs had a crush on in high school. Surely you would think that bitch be creepin'

12 Years A Slave
Beautiful and brutal. Yet strangely distant. Powerful ending.
Just wanted some more emotional gut-wrenching to go with my flinching.
Stayed with me more than some recent "adrenalin rush" fillums I really enjoyed.
Shoe-in for Best Picture Oscar...

Re: Good Movies
Her
Joaquin Pheonix falls in love with Scarlett Johansson.
Not too hard to believe... except she's a computer operating system.
And the thing is, you completely buy their relationship.
Hell, I fell in love with OS1 Samantha.
Maybe I need a root?

Re: Good Movies
good reviews on 12 years a slave and HER
ive only seen half of HER - the part where the relationship gets a little risqué

"Traditional Disney" right down to the big songs and princesses.
Surprised "Let It Go" go the Oscar nom - "Snowman" and "First Time" were my favourites.
Hate that weird/sus look cinema staff and patrons give you when you're a late 30s single white male going to see an animated fillum on your own...

my missus is a Disney nut, and she's watched this movie about 8 times. She loves it.
I watched the first 15 minutes and excused myself and went and played Battlefield
