Re: Rnd 1 - Norwood v Port Adelaide @ Coopers (Thur N 3/4)
After losing so many premiership players, it'll be interesting to see how Norwood do this year. I seem to recall them responding pretty well to losing players in the last couple of years so they'll be up there for sure, although it's hard to know how much if an impact Bassett had, and whether the transition to Warren will be smooth. As for the powderpuffs, the fitness factor will I think be the biggest advantage this year for the reserves teams. I think it'll be very hard for the proper teams to compete against them in the second half all season. Port by two goals.

As far as the game goes I hope the Port Power reserves win by 100 points and then they Gatorade shower Joe Tripoldi in the middle of their circle when they sing 'we've got the power to win'

It's worth noting that while Norwood only have eight of last year's premiership side playing - they do have only four debutants. Says much for their depth over the past couple of years.

i stated my concerns about the strenglth of both afl teams on another thread and was laughed at by some, roy laird came out the other day with the same thoughts, if the power win by a space it will confirm it

Also says a lot about Bassett's ability to turn average footballers into excellent team contributors.

How many Sanfl debutants do the Power have? (not that I think they should count as league games)

I've had more than a few of those at the Parade in recent years JK.

How strong was Ports team when they only beat South by 15 points when we had 7-8 first choice players out, including Cross & Liddle?
Hi, My name is Ron 'Bluey' Dunn. Did you know I played in the 61 & 62 Tasman Premiership sides....

Certainly made the best of what he had, pretty hard to rattle well drilled sides where everyone has the confidence to work to task within their own limitations .

So at least two players are being gifted games that they probably wouldn't have got at other Sanfl clubs.

With 8 SANFL clubs without any AFL listed players this season you could argue some of the new league list are only getting games because of the loss of those AFL listed from the club.
Like PG notes, is that a bad thing?
